What a tune! Love the groove on this, and your vocals are powerful and definitely a standout. A really pristine mine to boot. It sounds concise and professional.

Thanks for sharing smile

Cheers,
Deryk

Well done Chris37, this was wonderful! The arrangement is great to the ears and a solid key signature choice too. Good use of EFX on the guitar. The sax is an excellent choice to bring it all together. Thanks for sharing!

Cheers,
Joe

Really nice. Google translate gave me a fair sense of what you were singing (albeit, also "lost in translation" funny at times). I love when those times come...when you just can't wait to get at it, musically. And you just can't wait to finish, either.

The chord-work and production were solid. Lots to like in this, and I enjoyed the listen very much.

Sounds good and the Young Americans era sax is a treat.
Melody is cool.
I'd suggest the vocal is sitting on top of rather than in the mix but that's probably a personal taste thing.

Cheers

Hello Chris,

Love the retro sound! Good track choices for the band and a really good vocal.

I love the end of the second verse - like dragonflies swimming in the rain. That's great! Best to you.

Alan

Thank you Deryk, Joe, Tangmo, rayc and Alan.
I've written this song 35 years ago and with Band-in-a-Box, it was a marvelous opportunity to give a second life to it. Christian

"Chris 37"...

What...what's this I hear? Could it be f-f-f-funk? You better know it! Bluesy? Lord, yes! Hard-driving? Awww, yeah, baby! You knocked me out of my headphones with this one! This is a bad-[*****] piece of musical work, "Chris 37", and you sing it like you mean it. Your chord progressions are wicked, the electric guitar solo is sky-high, and the rhythm section makes the ground shake. I'll subtitle this the "French Oye Como Va" cool !!!

Excellent use of Band-in-a-Box's resources, "Chris 37". If you had performed this in a nightclub, passerby in the street would have come in to "jam" on it.

Lead on,

LOREN (a.k.a. "bluage")

Hi Loren,
I do not have Carlos Santana's talent but it's an honour for me that you compare my song with " Oye como va ". Thanks for your comments. Christian

Christian, a very nice track! I enjoyed your selection of the RT instruments and I really liked the chord changes underneath the solo sections..it seemed slightly different than other parts of the track. Please include a sense of the lyric! Thanks for sharing your work!

Hi Tom,
It's not easy to translate the lyrics. There are a lot of metaphors and word plays ! For example, letters with their ink have like blood in their veins. Notes are night owls and go swimming like dragonflies swimming in the rain. Revealing its entrails, the song
appears......

It was a pleasure listening and we are glad you revived it!

Everything in the mix sits very well on our monitors and the vocal is excellent.

Thanks Janice and Bud,
A song never dies and it's always exciting to make a new version 35 years after its creation. Christian

A very original use of RealTracks Christian. A foot tapper, and the sax part is just right. The blend of sounds made me think of how a 'Hot Club de Paris' might sound today!

Chris,

It is the fist time to hear such a sound like this from you.
And I understood the reason.
It is your young song.
It is very interesting to know your music life started from the experience of making such a song.
Enjoyed my listen a lot.

Best regards.

Hi Chris,

I have to agree with Janice and Bud's post above. This was definitely worth reviving and you've given a great presentation!

All the best,
Noel

Very good song, Chris!

Did I understand the last part of the second verse correctly?

"Some night owls on a trip for the night,
like dragonflies bathing in the rain."

Nice!

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
