Hi Will,

Thank you very much! That's is a terrific compliment. I didn't play the guitar part - I just selected the track and wrote in some chords. I guess it turned out OK! Again, thank you very much!

Thank you very much. The melody is a bit free-floating. Sometimes that's pretty good and sometimes not so good. But I think it works on this song. Glad you agree. Again, many thanks!

Regardless, "Downward Spiral" has a pacific, journeying feel in spite of its downbeat title. This is music that should be listened to while watching the sun go down...and then, watching it rise, again.

Sweet, and obviously composed from a deep place inside of you, "Al-David"! Thank you.

LOREN

Hi Loren,

I'm a big fan of Pat Metheny's work. Her grew up not too distant from where I did - both of us in Missouri. He does, indeed, have a free style melodically. The only reason I didn't suggest any similarity to him is the tone of guitar/ It's almost a Duane Eddy sound - not quite the same but some suggestion of that style. I agree with the SRV comment. I guess it's a "hodge-podge" mashup of several styles.

the sundown and sunrise comment made me smile - thank you! Wishing you the very best.

You have a way of finding interesting RTs to put together - makes me look back to see what they are - and makes me want to use them... thanks for that!!

The guitar and drums in this case - especially caught my ear - the use of a "background fills" guitar as the solo instrument really made this interesting.

Excellent mix.

Hi Floyd,

Such nice words from you are quite noteworthy and appreciated. Glad I could throw a couple tracks ideas at you! And yeah, I've used background fills as lead tracks on several previous songs. SOmetimes they're just enough without being too much. Thank you for your kindness.

Hi David,

No, it wasn't me - wish it was! Actually that backing track by brent mason is what you heard. I;ve found that some of the "busier" backing tracks make a great lead if you want relatively simple and work with them a bit. i searched and experimented with lead and backing tracks for almost two hours and kept coming back to this one. So, that's what I used. (RealTracks in song: 2650:Guitar, Electric, Background DreamyPopBalladFillsBrent Ev 085)

I sincerely appreciate you kind words. You are one of the best of the best here on the forums and your words carry more than a little weight.

I'm hoping to post one with me doing my own lead work before the year is over - if all goes well, possibly with a video. We'll see. I have virtually no feeling in the pinky and ring fingers of my left hand and about 60% - 70% in the other two. Thumb is pretty good, though! The right hand is mostly okay.

Anywho ... many thanks. Your new song, "Mercy", is gold! best to you and yours.

Alan

PS: Di said to tell you hello for her.

Very nice instrumental for a movie soundtrack. Great crisp mix. Interesting chord progression, the melancholy reminds me of Chris Rea, at least brings me sort of "On The Beach" feeling.

Alan,

A very nice instrumental track!
As David said, I also thought you were plying this lead guitar.
Very natural.
It is my favorite that the chord progression is melancholic.
I think that it will be another different great song again if there is vocal.
Enjoyed my listen a lot.

Best regards.

Hi Janne,

Thank you very much. And yes, i think you might be right about the Chris Rea analogy. Glad you liked it. Thanks for telling me!

Hi Alan,

This is such fine music.

You really do have a knack for creating music that sets the listenability bar way up there, high in the stratosphere. Your chord progressions flow so very smoothly and effortlessly without any sense of aural jarring whatsoever. In addition, you always manage to find the perfect (and I really do mean PERFECT) combination of instruments that blend together and create a wonderful, memorable musical journey.

I found this instrumental very soothing to listen to. I closed my eyes, sat back and drifted off into reverie.

Really nice work.

Thinking of you and Di and hoping that all is travelling as well as it possibly can.

All the best,
Noel

Nice work on this, Alan smile Super smooth tune, and the guitar tones on this are stunning. Really pretty, and easy on the ears. Precisely the tune I can close my eyes and float away to.

Great job here - thanks for sharing!

Cheers,
Deryk

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
