I just saw that you can rent to own the all new iZotope Nectar 3 on splice.com for only $9.99 a month. Guess I'll be adding to my monthly bill next week lol.

I watched part of a Nectar 3 demo yesterday. Some real innovation happening with this, just like we have come to expect from iZotope over the years. The visual compressor for example, what a great idea! And so easy to use.

Not mad about the pricing though, my limited time special introductory upgrade price is $249. Seems a little steep considering I already own Ozone 8, Neutron 2, and Nectar 2.

Sale is gone, but it was 50% off (pre-sale price) at plugin boutique only couple of days ago. I am sure they will have similar "flash" deals in near future.

Yes, Izotope added features, re-designed interface and looks (and I believe workflow) very similar to Neutron 2, but if I understood correctly it just "looks" of Neuron 2 interface, you can not inter-change modules, adding items like FX from Nectar to Neutron. It seems one of their muscle features is interconnection with their VST's across tracks, like Neutron. Interesting if they
done it with Nectar... If you can control Nectar through Neutron.

I got my Neutron 2 Advanced full version at $140 second hand with full licence transfer at KVR. Seems like some nice features were added to Nectar 3, but I will wait for some sort of flash sale or pick up second hand at some point. I want to see some user experience feedback & videos before considering it.

Problem with flash sales is you never know when they will be or if you'll have the extra cash laying around at that time. I know in the long run I'll be paying full price by leasing it but budgeting an extra $10 a month is easier for me.

I don't know about interchanging FX within the master program but if it's anything like Neutron or Ozone you should be able to run separate modules (ie. Compressor or EQ) as individual plugins.

Samuel, I can totally see the benefit of "rent to own". Drop a line here after you use it. Curious to know user opinion if the plug is good... or GREAT?
Thanks.

I saw another nectar 3 demo yesterday, looks like it also includes Melodyne 4 essential which normally sells for $100.

Here is the demo: https://youtu.be/CRtWcaxfP2Y

I wonder if that is included in the splice deal.

Hi Hugh,

I got the $249 price by logging into my account.

But just did a bit more digging, that $249 is for the "Vocal Chain Bundle" which includes Nectar 3 among other things. Regular price for the bundle is $399.

But it seems I should be able to upgrade to just Nectar 3 for $149 according to one spot on their website (not a bad price considering it comes with Melodyne 4), however when I actually log into my account that pricing is not available. I just sent them off an email to ask about it.

I also saw that $99 price, that is for Nectar 3 elements which is missing most of the modules.

Anyway, I'll see what they come back with.

Hi Dave,

I posted a link for Neutron Elements VST... which is almost free at pluginboutique. You can:
1) Get that plugin
2)Register with Izotope.
3)Get Cross-grade price for Nectar 3 (which is the same as as upgrade from Nectar 2, but with one important difference!)
4) If you do it as cross-grade, you are free to sell or give Elements and your Nectar 2 license to anybody without losing Nectar 3!

I know that for a fact.

Now, the problem I see is this... If Nectar 2 was used in the project will it retain settings if you use replace it with Nectar 3? Or you have to maintain both plugins?

In any case, do it or not, the option I described gives more flexibility.

Dave,
$149 should be the update or cross grade price.

If you (or anyone) decides on it, try this coupon at checkout: CC54XHHQOKY1A
saves a couple of bucks.

I downloaded Nectar 3 from splice last night. Just used it on a cover song I've been recording. It works really well. The Vocal assistant and the Unmask features work well, but I ended up using one of the presets for this song. I did use the Unmask feature with the preset. It's nice that you can run it separate from the vocal assistant so you can use it with any of the presets or your own settings. I also added two of my other favorite vocal plugins to the inserts and they really compliment each other well.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
