Hello, forum friends

This song was written in a quick step rhythm for the ballroom dancing CD about 5 years ago.
In order to post it to the forum this time I made a new remix version.
It is a big band style instrumental tune.
Now please enjoy it with straight Scotch, or your favorite cocktail if you like.

Any comments encouraged.
Always welcome.

Best regards.

Shigeki Adachi

Hi Shigeki Adachi

Wow, you have so much melody control, I almost hear... "Heres Johnny!" How you can make BIAB sound like your Dr. Carl Hilding Severinsen from "The Tonight Show," Is utterly amazing! Well done

Suprisingly catchy jazzy groove. Superb arrangement and great melody. I think this a fantastic example of the BIAB use, because this sounds like a real live band and nothing like computer generated.

Shigeki..loved it! So expertly arranged, and your midi sound 'tools' are well-chosen. I especially liked how you varied the theme each time it repeated, using different band sections and harmonies. You are such as skilled arranger, I am taking lessons from your work! Thanks for remixing this track!

Hello, LPman

Thank you very much for taking the time to listen and comment.
I am really glad you like this tune.
4 voice jazz harmonization is hardly used since learned when I was young, so I am afraid that there may be some doubtful places in this tune.
I am always very encouraged by your kind words.

Best regards.

I heard lots of big band music growing up, my dad was a big fan and it was always playing in the house.

You really captured the mood of that era, sounds like a live band. Very well done!

And yeah, if your going to drink Scotch, straight is the only way to go! smile

What a jam! Love the bouncy groove, and thought the MIDI work here was top notch. It all flows so nicely. Got my toe tapping within a few seconds. That aside, the mixing job sounds concise and professional.

You should be proud of this one - great work, and thanks for sharing smile

Shigeki,
Everything about this is top class, in fact its so live sounding I`m having flashbacks to some ( less than stellar) dance lessons!
Wonderful big band music.

User Tip: How to add drum fills without changing any other tracks

MarioD has shared some great advice when it comes to adding drum fills without changing any other tracks in your song:

There have been a number of questions asking how to add drum fills without changing any other tracks in a song. This is especially important if one is holding a chord for a few measures and wants to add a drum fill prior to the next chord. The following is how to accomplish that:

1-get the instruments/tracks to play like you want but don't worry about the drums for now.
2-generate the song.
3-freeze all tracks
4-unfreeze the drum track
5-add your fills where you want them
6-generated the song again - note this will only generate the drum track and not the frozen tracks
7- when you get the drums like you want them freeze the track
