On the evening of November 2nd I went and saw Bohemian Rhapsody with a small group of friends in theatres. We had a lot of thoughts and feelings on the movie, and we discussed it late in to the night. But one topic that we continued to cycle back to was who did the vocals for Freddie.
My friends were convinced that it was simply Rami Malek. They were very impressed by his covers. However, I was unconvinced that it was just Rami Malek. I knew that there had to be more.
So, I did a little digging and found out that they had used both Rami Malek and Marc Martel's voices in order to try and recreate Freddie's voice for the movie.
Have you guys seen the movie? What did you think of it, and what did you think about their portrayal of Freddie? What do you think of Rami Malek's performance, and what are your thoughts on their fusing voices together? And what do you think about Marc Martel's voice?
Here is a video of Marc Martel's cover of Bohemian Rhapsody itself for sake of discussion (although We Are The Champions is embedded in the article):

I've not seen the movie yet, but I have been a Queen fan before Bohemian Rhapsody came out. I still sit and listen to both the "Queen" and "Queen II" albums (I've got everything from "Queen" through "The Works" on vinyl), where (if Queen is your cup of tea) you can definitely hear the rougher beginnings of what would become one of the most unique sounds to come out of rock.

The movie is amazing and Mark Martel's vocals are spot-on for Freddie. The music alone is worth watching the movie, IMO. Freddie was probably the greatest front man to ever grace a stage.

I agree. The music was pretty great. Obviously it's hard to make a biopic "entertaining" to most, but I really enjoyed it for what it was.
Saw the movie today. Pretty clear there was a fair amount of artistic license taken, but a great movie nonetheless and the music is excellent.
There definitely was. It was interesting that they wanted to make it "family friendly" considering how Freddie's life wasn't exactly kid friendly. I was curious how they would handle some of the darker/harder aspects of Freddie's life, and a lot of the choices were definitely made in an effort to make it more cinematic and accessible to a wider audience, and while the movie itself wasn't story-making magic, the music was fantastic, and I ultimately enjoyed the movie even if some of the facts were shifted around for more "drama". No spoilers though!

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Update your Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows for free with build 1111!
With this update, there's more control when saving images from the Print Preview window, we've added defaults to the MultiPicker for sorting and font size, updated printing options, updated RealTracks and other content, and addressed user-reported issues with the StylePicker, MIDI Soloists, key signature changes, and more!
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
