Hi Gang!

So, I decided to take this little piggy apart and remix it. This song was just to heavy. I changed the vocals and gave the instruments more space so that they're not competing so much!

This song weighed about eight pounds before...now about one pound, six oz.

If you got a minute, take a listen!

All the best,
Dave

Hey, there, Mr. Brooks...

Got some earth-quakin', floor-shakin', roof-raisin' rock goin' on with "Not Anymore"! The drum beat was booming and had such a trip-hammer tempo that it reminded me of ceremonial bass drum performances at "Indian" pow-wows I've attended here in Washington State.

Your vocal track was large and full-chested. I had a vision of you singing from a rooftop as an audience gathered on the ground to listen to you perform. I couldn't make out all of the lyrics above your growling, howling guitar work, so would you post your lyrics for us, pretty-please???

Those angel voices caught me off-guard as I thought your song had ended and was being followed by another one. But then I regained my bearings and went along for the extended musical ride. With the organ filling in the mix with its ritual sound, the whole thing took on an acid rock ambience.

Whole lotta rock out on the block, Mr. Brooks! BAM!

LOREN (a.k.a. "bluage")

What a tune! The energy here is tremendous. I'm getting a 90's vibe on this one. It sounds raw and really gigantic. I can't help but imagine this sounding unreal in a live setting.

Really well done - thanks for sharing smile

Hi LOREN/Bluage!

Thanks for your listen! I was mixing a bit late and listened this morning and made a few vocal corrections and such. I love the rooftop concept! Kinda like I wanted the whole neighborhood to know what she was all about!!! =D

The angelic voices catches everyone off guard, but I wanted to give your ears a break before the next round of thumping...sort of like the eye of a hurricane.

Anywho, I've posted the lyrics as per your request. also, I'm thinking you're gonna love the new mix!!!

All the best
Dave

“Not Anymore!”

By: David Brooks 07/30/2018

We used to walk in the park—Long after dark---But not anymore---

We stayed up all night long---Singing love songs---But not anymore---

I can’t take your crying---I can’t take your spying---

I can’t you lying to my face anymore---

I can’t take your sneaking---I can’t take your creeping---

I can’t take your Boyfriend hanging round my back door!!!---

(Chorus)

Why do you hurt me??? You make me so mad!!!---

The next time you hurt me---It’s gonna be bad!!!---

We used to have it all--- Life was a ball---But not anymore---

We once had ten million friends---it would never end---But not anymore---

I can’t take your stealing---I can’t take your dealing---

I can’t take you burning down my house, anymore---

I can’t take your scheming---I can’t take your screaming---

I can’t take you driving my Corvette to the shore!!!---

(Chorus)

Why do you hurt me??? You make me so mad!!!---

The next time you hurt me---It’s gonna be bad!!!---

Zup "D?"

Thanks for the listen. To me, this tune sounds more like what I had in mind for the original. It seems to have more of a "live performance" sound! I know the middle angelic voices catch everyone off guard, but I did it to give the ears a break...kinda like the eye of a hurricane!!!

I corrected a couple of the vocal issues so if you want to hear it again with the corrections feel free!

All the best,
Dave

Hi Dave,

It is a wonderful track... I love it! And you guitar playing is fantastic.

There's only one thing that distracted me a bit and that is the "fade out" just before the angelic voices starts (2:34-2:40). It would be nice with a more elegant and musical transition there - I almost thought the track was finished.

But overall it is a great piece of music!

Hi Dave,

A real rocker! Love that big drum line! One of your best vocals, too - in my opinion.

I tend to agree with the couple of comments about fading before the sweet voices. Perhaps, bring them in as your guitar is fading so there's no second or two of complete silence? Just a thought.

Nice work on the frets!

Alan

Hey Will,

I went back an analyzed the chorus of "Not Anymore." I realized why people were so distracted by the middle was because it broke tempo with the rest of the song. I still like the original because that's me...but I like the new tempo also because it flows a little better with the rest of the song.

Take a listen and see if you agree...

All the best,
Dave

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
