Is there anyway one can edit the apparently somewhere present MIDI data of the supertracks? Or Import - Export possibilities? F

Unlike Realtracks, which are compiled to match your chord selection in each instance you generate them from raw data located in your Realtracks subfolders, MIDI Supertracks have no "raw" sound data, so the question is a tad confusing. Are you asking whether/how you can edit MIDI Supertracks?

Perhaps you could clarify what it is exactly that you are trying to accomplish?

create some variations or changing note lengths; with midi through DAW and maybe reimporting them ...

Gotcha,

TBH, I would personally import the basic tracks into Reaper and then use the built in piano roll and/or the stock sequencer (ReaSamplomatic5000) from that point out.

If you want only a basic track then in BiaB have a measure or two of C7 or any other chord. MIDI transfer that to Reaper.

If you want an entire song do the entire song in BiaB then MIDI transfer it.

I have used the entire song method then modified the track in my DAW. As you know MIDI is easily modifiable.

I hope this helps.

OK I miss understood your question. Sorry about that.

If you get no response put this on the wish list. I would definitely support it. This would be a great way to tame some of those very active supertracks, not to mention generating our own supertracks, i.e. musch like RTs. Just be sure to mention that we should be able to save as so we don't overwrite the original supertrack.

My understanding is you can edit Supermidi tracks the same as any midi file. I created an sgu with a supermidi piano track. It's also my understanding that supermidi tracks generate the same as RealTracks.

I was able to open the Piano Roll screen and select the Supermidi Track that had generated and edit the midi without any issues including changing notes, their length and the patch.

My point is actually that if you can't edit midi supertracks at the source, one has to do all the edits again after each (re-) generating of the song. Especially if you find some kind of "flaw" (personal opinion as such) in a supertracks file.

I find quite often that working on an exported BIAB to DAW project, i want to change something essential, like changing a few chords, bar count, insert/delete a break or hold etc. Often it's better to do that at the source, BIAB, experiment a little there, and then go back to the DAW for merging with all the other missing parts in there. Often ending with maybe 10 even versions in a saved project.

Working in Realband is not really an option, as it is IMO no match for something like Cubase, Sonar or even Reaper. -F

PS if anyone is interested; got 2 licenses for sale of never activated or licensed Cubase Pro 9.5 retail versions for (MAC and Windows 64bit, and thus the full and not EDU). As such also valid for the just released Cubase 10. Bought them for an 'out of the house' project for installing on some studio's computer systems, which got cancelled alas. Price is about 150 bucks below normal costs, if some buyer lives outside the EU. PM if so.

M_CBLPNO.STY 13 KB
M_CBLPNO.stx 43 KB
If you open the above style you will see
2254: Piano, Rhythm CountryBalladJohn Ev 120
they also come with
RPno0164.ST2 3,926 KB
RPno0164.XT2 161 KB

I don't think it's something you can edit, not sure what format the stx is in ?? but all the stx seem to be 43 KB and sit in the Styles folder.
The ST2,XT2 sit in the Soloists folder.
The RealTracks come with the same files also STY,stx,ST2 and XT2.
The ST2 seem to be the much larger files than the XT2. See the RealTracks need the info to say what chord is played in what part of the wav/wma file. They would contain all of this and maybe more info to do with the what style maybe and what sections of the RealTrack to fit together and where to play etc.. ???
There's
2012: Piano, Acoustic, Rhythm CountryBalladJohn Ev 120
RealTrack that has RealCharts that are the midi recorded at the same time on the Yamaha Acoustic/Digital Piano, so I would say maybe that is how the MST are stored, the same way as RealCharts as you have the same files as RealTracks less the audio.

I haven't sat down and tried to work all that out.
But what has been asked for many times is MIDI UserTracks.

You should be able to do it all with your RapidComposer you got some time back, export a MST into RapidComposer, cut it up into phrases and save them, now you can drag and drop them to fit over any chord or key so you are not limited to what BB creates.

MST, what's that? MST ?

Interesting however; because of your enthusiasm i bought RapidComposer a year or so ago, but never got 'round to taming that horse .... Attila is a real nice enthusiast, helpful and supportive bloke though ... worth investing there.

aha ... was already looking for a *.MST file in BIAB .... but as said: that's not what i was looking for, editing exported end results. Want to change or add/import what's in BIAB internally. Something along the line of the Style Editor etc ...

PS i just bought a black friday-deal-one-can't-resist EZkeys with 3 pianos and their midi files. Experiment: Imported from a BIAB supertrack in to it. Simply dragging selected BIAB mainscreen bars (different bars selected in groups one after the other for different parts) in the main menu from the green supertrack track indicator, into EZkeys' user folder's on the VST's midi browser page. (You'll have to first create a named empty user sub-folder, f.i 'BIAB imports', in EZkeys' midi installation folder with it's own midi data. Wish the other way around into BIAB was that easy. -F

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
