I found this style "_Bollybt" while actually looking for something else, but when I listened to it I knew I had to try to work with this. So I fooled around and added a few things.

The song is in a traditional style (Mohanam Raga) of South Indian music, singing using the pentatonic scale.

The star of this track is Andy Leftwich, who I (miss-)used to give the singer some feedback (he can be found on RT2549). I am sure he didn't imagine himself playing on a track like this. :-)

Let me know if I am ready for the big Bollywood screen... probably not grin

Sort of India meets Ireland when the fiddle shows up.

Nicely done! smile

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

"Will Josef"...

My, my, my, but there's a whole lot of adventurous music popping up in the User's Forum these days!!!

Your "Will Goes to Bollywood" number satisfied my always-open ear for music composed outside of the Western tradition. And, on top of that, you had enough imagination to add some Celtic charm to the mix through the addition of that dancing violin. I absolutely LOVE to listen to music that blends genres, musical traditions, and just plain-old, "Well, what if we throw this in there???"

Round-and-round, and round, he goes, but where "Will" will stop, nobody knows laugh !!!

Dee-lighted,

LOREN

This is pretty cool! You show a lot of imagination in your uploads, always something different.

You held my attention throughout the entire piece and I enjoyed the listen, well done!

Hi Will,

you should see me: I'm sitting in front of my monitors, grinning, eyes closed, fidgeting and now - can that be true - the air starts to smell like cumin, coriander cinemon and cardamom.

Will, it's so great and I admire and envy you for having the guts to give something like this a try.

I'm ready for a double-feature !!!

Soooooo good...

Take care,

Stefan

Wow - what a unique piece of music smile Definitely a breath of fresh air for the forums here, and I love how there is slight celtic influence with the fiddle too. Definitely unique but that isn't a bad thing in my books.

You should be proud of this one - thanks for sharing!

Well done Will! This sounds very full and found the rhythm is easy to follow. Thoroughly enjoyed the strings to harmonize everything, and it sounds quite authentic!

David, Loren, Dave, Stefan, Tano, Deryk and Joe,

A big thank you to all of you for listening and writing encouraging comments. I appreciate that a lot!
I find great fun in experimenting with the different styles in Biab and it is really nice when there are people who are willing to spend a few minutes to listen and comment.

Blushing a little bit here...

Thanks again,
Will

Boy did I like this. The violin sets so nice in the song. I remember reading an article from George Harrison talking about learning Eastern music that time was so different than the 4/4 timing he was used to. This was a very cool song. Well done

Thank you, Scott!

Yes, I like the violin in this mix as well - it's actually a compliment to PGMusic for making it possible to include a violin, which for sure was not intended for this kind of music. smile

Thank you for listening!

Will,

This is fantastic! I love the way that the various musical elements align and create a very engaging journey of sound that's different, inventive and adventurous. You've done a great job with this. Your composing, arranging and production shine! I'd also like to compliment your singer on doing a superb job.

All the best,
Noel

Will, good stuff.
Enjoyed it much!

I always liked fusion music. It is almost always comes as a pleasant surprise.
This tune reminded me of one of my favorite fusion bands Mytha (Indo-Swedish) They have some wild collaborations. Will, you are on right track smile

Thank you for posting!

Noel, Peter and Rustyspoon,

Thank you very much for your nice comments! I'm really happy that you took time out of your probably busy calendar to listen to this track.

@Noel
Yes, she is an amazing singer in that particular style.

@Rustyspoon
I don't know Mytha, but I will for sure check them out.

Thanks to all of you for listening!

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
