Very nice, Tano! Sounds like NI's Kinetic Toys have been used for the midi?

That is the niftiest piece I've heard in a while. It makes me want to dance around the Christmas tree. I loved that sound bit at the end. And it is definitely a Christmas-like tune. I am envisioning a scene in a claymation short with elves frolicking about Santa's workshop.

An underlying scary clown sensation with the bass and cellos.
I need to play this loudly in the dark.

Cheers

Hi Tano,

What a creative and catchy opening! Then the build with each verse just takes the pleasure higher and higher. Sounds like Christmas to me. Loved that quirky ending. Lots of fun here. Thanks for the smile on my face. Best to you,

Alan

Such a creative song. It is amazing the images that popped into my head when this was playing. A bunch of mechanical toys building more toys. Loved this

Tano,

This sounds like a backing track from all those old Christmas TV shows from the 60s - very cool - nice mix as well.

Dear "Tano Music"...

Listening to "Magic Box" made me feel like I was a kid, again, but in a way I find it hard to put a finger on. And once again, your chord choices are unusual and chromatically colorful. The instrumentation is refreshingly diverting in its novel combination of voices, with the tuned and untuned percussion (if I'm correct) generating an atmosphere of clockwork precision that suggests a great deal of activity, of busyness, even. The waltz rhythm is perfect for imparting a sense of elegance and style to the musical proceedings.

It's a "magical" thing to listen to as the title suggests. There is a sense of innocence about it that lasts well beyond the brevity of its duration.

"Tano Music" you make music like someone who hears music in literally everything that's around him!

Absolutely charmed and delighted,

LOREN

Bob, Loren..thanks for those nice comments.

My original idea was to write circus clown music, like the “goofy” style intended. But when I tried to link the midi drum track to the synths that I had, I got something that sounded like a music box. Then I thought of some mechanical one-man bands that I have seen, with a timpani-type pedal drum. Finally, I wanted that “boing” sound at the end—the music box is broken!

I do like to try my hand at lots of off-beat music applications: marching music, national anthem...maybe even a modern polka, or a jingle for some product..my weirdness, I guess!

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

David..thanks..I always took it as a compliment, and a sign of success, in my professional sales career, when a client said to me "Not at all what I expected!" (in a positive way, of course!)

I'm not intentionally trying to be different than the crowd, but just following a wide variety musical concepts without regard for boundaries of style, approach, composer-comfort, etc., with the expectation that, if it's different than what I've done in the past, then I must have learned something and expanded my scope.

Thanks for taking a listen!

Nice work on this Tano smile 100% feeling the Christmas vibes off this one. Love the progressions, and that stripped down percussion works beautifully. It also almost reminds me of something you'd find in a video game from the 90's. Like on an N64 console.

Solid job here - thanks so much for sharing!

Deryk

Nice song. Sounds like you channeled your inner nutcracker and maybe a little fun from the circus. I could see this being played in the background of a movie or commercial. Well done.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
