I picked up both Waves Scheps Omni Channel today for $29 and Waves Tune yesterday for $26.

They may both still be on sale.

Both are surprisingly good.

I am extremely impressed at how the Scheps Omni Channel can really brighten and strengthen a mix big time with a subtle analogue quality as well.

Now that I am using Waves Tune, I don't see how I lived without it. It really works well with a rock and roll voice, just like they say.

Cool! I already have Ultrachannel (Eventide) I got for free
a while back and just recently updated it to the latest version. For pitch, I'm considering a Melodyne upgrade they're having a great sale on upgrades through Dec 31st. I like Waves stuff. i have and use a lot of their plugins. What I don't like about them is the update plan they want you to buy to get any updates after a year.

I'm beginning to feel like the old woman in the shoe (except instead of children) I have so many plugins I don't know what to do. grin

Josie,

Have you played around with ReaTune for pitch adjustments? If not, have a look at the below video. It's very easy to use in manual mode (which is the one that I use because it gives me maximum control.

Regards,
Noel

Oh yeah, Reatune is great Noel. I actually use Reatune as much as I use Melodyne. It's fast, really easy and comes with Reaper. I've had basic Melodyne since I got it as a bonus with another product purchase in either 2009 or 2010 - can't remember exactly but I've had it a really long time. It's been updated over the years all the way to version 4 Essentials now at no cost to me. So I think very highly of Celemony and I'd like to have the extra functions with Assistant while they're offering the best upgrade price i've seen so far. smile I also have Izotope's Nectar 2 production suite with a pitch tuner but i rarely use it.

I am using ReaTune and Waves Tune as a next step for tricky stuff.

ReaTune is Great. I love it.

But I have to say, Waves Tune will take a rock and roll growl that is out of tune and slap it back into place in a jiffy.

I like and use both of them.

I am spending more time on vocals than anything else these days.

Which one did you get David, the regular Waves Tune or the new Waves Tune Real Time? Just curious.

In a weak moment - I hear you saying yeah right LOL! grin They do know how to tempt me. Anyway, I bought Greg Wells VoiceCentric bundled with JJP Vocals on sale a few months ago. Been messing with VoiceCentric some and haven't had a chance to try JJP yet.

I need to do some rock growling that sounds like fun.

They are still on sale for another 20 hours from the time of this post. I haven't bought anything yet this year but I will, still trying to decide!

At the moment, in addition to the $29 sale price, if you spent $50 or more you get a free plugin, so buy two for $29 each and get a third one for free.

I bought regular waves tune Josie, and it works fine for me, not sure I would want to the live, real-time one.

I tend to fiddle a lot and this is the last part of the chain, so I was interested in the older one.

Speaking of pitch correction, Melodyne Assistant is currently selling for $200, but you can get it for $100 now if you purchase Melodyne Essential for $50 (on sale) and then buy the Melodyne Essential to Assistant Upgrade ($50).

I just saw that the latest version of ReaTune (Reaper's pitch correction tool) now has a resizeable window - the main feature that's missing from Waves Tune. But it's still nowhere as flexible as Waves Tune or Melodyne Assistant.

I fired all three of them up on really pitchy vocal to see how they would do.

Short version: Waves Tune and Melodyne Assistant seem to be on par in terms of features, and both are a class above ReaTune (which is still good for basic tuning).

Neither was as simple as dragging the segments to the new location. Both have a learning curve, and each has a different set of tools that need to be learned before you'll get good results.

Your mileage may vary.

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
