So cool!

This would be great as movie music in western/period era film.

I bet this is exactly how it sounded back in the day!

Dear "edsahaw"...

Your recording of "God Be With You 'Til We Meet Again" is a stark and haunting, yet deeply comforting song. You sound as though you were ascending the stairs to the Light, but in your heart you are 'looking back' at all the souls you're leaving behind. It's like a lullaby, sweet and reassuring, with guitar accompaniment that's as soft as feathers in a pillow full of dreams.

I don't believe I've heard anything so spiritually inspiring in this User's Forum.

Truly,

LOREN

Nice rendition of this hymn... Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think this one was also covered by Gentleman Jim Reeves... Its unfortunate I don't hear these hymns more often in church... BTW I picked up the acoustic and played a country walking shuffle bass line to go along with your tune... Thanks for the fun!

Hey there edshaw, fantastic choice of instrumentation on this. Excellent mixdown on all of this and the instruments are layered nicely. The vocals harmonize well with the other instruments. Great work!

Cheers,

Nice version of that PD hymn.

The public domain is a treasure chest and it's nice that you explore it!

Thanks, folks, for the listens and comments. As you can tell, I'm moving in a direction, trying to restrict the variables to a short list. Yes, Jim Reeves did a wonderful rendition of this hymn, a rendition I listened to during the process. Wish I could'a heard that shuffle. Yeah, guys, that PD has a wealth of talent. Plus, they are automatically video licensed.
Those 1780-1880 hymn book lyrics cerainly were inspired. A lot to learn about melody as well as from those striking words. As a rule, the melodies were written in the range of one octave. That is true for this hymn, in Cmaj, except that higher part, where the line goes c-d-e. Rarely going more than four half steps above the octave. My teacher taught me to examine those ranges with an ear to expressive opportunity, as one in that talent bracket who has to squeeze every possible bit out of a song. Naturally, I'm not the first to discover the benefit of playing above the 12th fret, for the listener's benefit.
Also, gratified the guitar work was acceptible. I wasn't sure it would be. I am gradually gravitating to the guitar for accent. I find that when the singers seem to be getting cautious, that guitar can drive them to new heights, sometimes after the manner of a challenge!
Also, most gratified about how well the the Hank Camp Strum held up under the pressure. In my work, that can be something you don't verify until it is actually posted on Coundcloud. Now, if I can just remember the effects chain.
Lower the mid range EQ, compress, up the release, smoothen, convert to CD high, and hope.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
