I do not know if I can explain my problem. I connected my sy77 hamaha synth to the behringer umc204hd audio sk. In a BIAB track I assigned the plugin sforzando to play a piano. The problem is this: if I click with the mouse the virtual keyboard key is lowered and I hear the sound. If I press the same button on my synth, the virtual keyboard key does not move and I hear the internal synt sound instead of the Vsti sound. I would like to use my synth to play and recording the track with the piano virtual instrument. Where am I wrong?
I have also a digital piano roland fp30 with midi out. Is it better to do this experience?
A clarification: if I use Reaper without modifying anything in my hardware connection when I press the synt key I can see at the same time that the key in the virtual keyboard is lowered. So the problem is definitely in Biab. What can I check in Biab?
Biab, however, correctly records the midi I'm playing but it does not make me feel as I record the midi of "direct monitoring" what I play and the virtual instrument I'm playing.
I don’t want to muddy the waters but in case you do not know. The thru instrument is sent on ch 4 to the internal vsti if the use vsti dxi box is ticked in midi settings ,and if the route midi thru to midi driver is cleared.
However any midi recorded goes to the melody of soloist tracks The melody is sent to ch4 the soloist to ch8 Therefore to hear the voice while you are recording that you will hear on playback, You need to sett thru and say melody to the same voice. Hope this helps Mike
You need to sett thru and say melody to the same voice.
I'm sorry, I have no practice with biab. You can tell me the steps I need to take to do these things. My goal is playing a note and seeing internal vsti move
Hi When you are in the screen that is in your pic at the top cut off in your post make sure that the vsti you are seeing is the one from the thru track in your mixer . If the on screen piano responds with you keyboard note playing but does not sound you may need to start the song and then stop it strait away to hear activate it.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
