FYI, the Latest version (602) has been in all the installers since 5pm Saturday dec, 1 PST. So you don’t need to update to it unless you downloaded before that (you can confirm that if you see 602 in the help about box)
Cordialement, JCB.

Greetings Bourdrant,
I am unable to duplicate the issue (The backup of tracks in wave format only offers the extension ".W" and not the usual extension ".wav" as in previous BIAB). Please provide step-by-step instructions how you are creating backup tracks.

Salutations Bourdrant,
If one has dragged some generated audio or MIDI tracks from the VST plugin window into the DAW - and then one modifies the chord progression i some way and regenerates - do I have to drag the tracks into the DAW again or do the track displays just auto-update with the new BIAB content in-place? is there a mode where one doesnt have to drag the tracks at all and instead the plugin just pipes the audio into a track as if it were a multichannel plugin like Kontakt? And similarly can it just pipe MIDI from a MIDI or MIDI SuperTrack out of the plugin into the DAW MIDI input of a MIDI track and then just get processed by any plugin instrument hosted in the DAW instead of one hosted in BIAB?

Drag the yellow music icon (inside the red square) from any RealTracks track that has the icon to an empty daw track and the RealTracks notation midi will be copied from the VST to the daw.

I got an answer from PG Tech support directly.
< do I have to drag the tracks into the DAW again or do the track displays just auto-update with the new BIAB content in-place?>
YES
<is there a mode where one doesnt have to drag the tracks at all and instead the plugin just pipes the audio into a track as if it were a multichannel plugin like Kontakt? >
NO. THERE IS NO routing of ANY audio in real-time from the "plugin" into the host.
<can it just pipe MIDI from a MIDI or MIDI SuperTrack out of the plugin into the DAW MIDI input of a MIDI track and then just get processed by any plugin instrument hosted in the DAW instead of one hosted in BIAB? [/quote]>
NO. No MIDI is going at all from the plugin into the DAW host.
So to cut a long story short - this is a highly disingenuous release, since it is the expectation for both VST and AU plugins .... ***FROM THE DAY STEINBERG CREATED THE VST STANDARD !!!! *** that a VST or AU plugin provides audio for the DAW host to use and process. And same for MIDI output - although not all plugins support that.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
