Very well crafted recording.
On another serious side, my associates and I are right now discussing the long term consequences of drug and alcohol abuse. The first two lines of your song are relevent to something called "rebranding."
Carry on, Floyd. Always a pleasure.

Thanks, Ed...

Floyd, this song is so packed with great lyric content! Just one line after another of beautiful work! I don't think it would be too presumptuous of me to state that the majority of this forum community holds you in very high esteem and we are in awe of your writing skills! This is another one to add to your book of great songs! Thanks,T

floyd,

Nice and catchy song!
This is exactly floyd song.
Wonderful vocals and harmonies.
The combination of 1945:Guitar, Acoustic, Rhythm GroovinFolk and 3059:Guitar, Acoustic, Rhythm Muted is very good.
Conga is very effective.
Enjoyed my listen a lot.

Best regards.

I love the percussion on this track, I love the build up and the lyrics (although "spent a little time with this girl I know - money changing hands no need to take it slow" for a few seconds made me wondering what kind of woman you were singing about). smile

Very well done!

Really enjoyed the beautiful way you delivered the rhyme in this piece, Floyd.

Clever lyrics, great writing, fantastic vocals with a perfect mix of the over-dubbing.

Another class production.

One thing in particular I was paying attention to was the way that you used your voice doubling, leading off the verses, sometimes starting off solo, then adding a double...I’m sure you did that with intention as an emphasis/color technique.

I’m also listening closely to how you slowly and easily roll the sing words off in your melody line. I never see you crowding too many words into a line, and sometimes, as I read along, I think “well, there’s not going to be enough words to finish that melodic line”, but you have a way of holding back and placing those choice words beautifully. Thanks for sharing your great work!

I've always been big on "how it falls on the ear". It needs to be natural and it needs to be original. (you do a fine job of that..) If you hit both of those, you are most of the way there are you can get away with the rest... Thanks for the nice review...

You have a helluva talent for expressing everyday/every person feelings in ways that are NEVER time worn or hackneyed.
I know that is the hallmark of a great writer but it is something that we've come to appreciate more and more from studying your songs.

And with writing, performing, arranging, mixing and mastering your songs you are able to take those great lyrics and package them in way that EVERYTHING is as Gregg would say "hittin' the note." This tune is a study in that.

As Alan mentioned and we are fond of saying "perfection is found when there is nothing left to take away."

Over the top mr jane!

So I will give my opinion as though your song was a recipe on an online food forum.

I listened to this song to the letter. But here's the thing...it wasn't great.

I didn't actually have a way to "play" the actual song. Therefore, I didn't actually "hear" it. But from the comments of others, it seemed like it would be a good song. I just HAD to hear it so I got creative.

I'm not a singer, so I had someone next to me sing what they thought it might sound like. As it would turn out, she wasn't much of a singer either. She was also NOT the cheeriest person to be working as a cashier at Walmart this time of year either, I might ad.

Next, I couldn't follow what your intended phrasing was exactly, so we (The cashier and I) changed some of the words to see if we could make sense of it. Actually we had to change a lot of them. Now nothing seems to even rhyme. It's more a of a free form poem; and you should really state that if that's what your posting. Calling it a song is a bit of a stretch. Especially with no instruments.

I'm not sure how long it was supposed to be, because you didn't state that either; but I can tell you at over 14 minutes it's a bit long for my taste. That's not just MY opinion either. The people in line behind me at Walmart will attest to that! I think I see what the cashier wasn't overly happy. Those people get RUDE fast! Even with me reminding them that she was going as fast as she could.

I hate to be negative, especially with all the praise you've been getting on this and your other "songs" but I'm not feeling it. It certainly wasn't your best work.

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and give it another listen when I get to something that can actually play the song. As it is right now, for me, nothin's workin' yet. Otherwise, maybe consider golf. wink

---Ok, so it's another great song. It's just getting old saying that so often. wink It's always deserved though!

A great song. Top level write, performance and production. Something different this time. The song was inspiration for some of the most entertaining and imaginative comments I've seen posted on the forum. I thoroughly enjoyed the song as I browsed through the comments.

Late to the party on this one.

But better late than never, Floyd that was absolutely spellbinding to me.

All of the above posts have said it all.

How do you write so often and keep the quality, and the professional touch, that's heavy going to be able to keep doing songs to this standard ?.

It's just the slightest nuance of Dylan. Your vox and style is so much better than Bobs. I've told him to his face that he can't sing. He's written some masterpieces but should leave the singing to others.

(Dylan lovers, holster them thar shootin' arns!)

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
