I can't enter a stop with the new plugin. Example: I can enter F#m but can't enter f#m.. (see red dots). Anyone else seeing this? That's the only chord, so far, that I am having trouble with. Have crashed numerous times with the plugin. Using FL Studio 20.4 and Cakewalk by Bandlab. Other issues with FL Studio seeing the plugin but of the two DAWs it is the most stable while using the plugin. Cakewalk seems a disaster at this point. More to come I'm sure.

Pipeline, thanks for the reply. Seems I can enter major or minor keys, just can't enter a stop. Such as f#m.. (see the red). Also, if I import a file that has a stop in it the plugin won't recognize it.

That sounds crazy! No one has mentioned that up to this point. Only major chords?

And while I am at it, despite all these forum comments that the BB-VST will be enhanced (fixed) in next release I see no indication from PGM that that is their intention. Best I can tell, it is what it is. period.

The plugin has already had one update patch so why think there won’t be more. PG has always worked hard to fix issues.

Fair question, first of all the feature set for the BB-VST has not been defined on the site. As a result, what I may find an issue may not be in agreement with what the developers feel is an issue. In other words, what I would like to do with the BB-VST may not be what is being built.

This site is famous for hearing what all the users speculate regarding objectives and intentions and planned features. In the case of the BB-VST, based on user descriptions in the forum, it appears to be coming up shy of expectations.

I just don't know if that is due to intended design or release of a incomplete feature set.

Why do you think more design changes are planned for this?

Where are you seeing a update patch for the VST? I have the 604 update for BIAB but the VST file shows 11-30 2018 date.

Here is what PGM is saying as of minutes ago in another tread:

Quote:
It is high on our priority list to address this issue of the plugin apparently not showing up on some systems...

...on many systems including the ones we tested, it does just show up and work.

That sounds to me like the company is confirming that BB-VST is doing what it was designed to do.

I fear it is what it appears to be...just a different implementation of drag/drop with one addition that may prove very useful...multiriffs.

better set aside lots of extra time if you are going to use the multi riff feature at this time. It takes forever to generate even small passages. I am sure they will fix it but in the interim I would suggest sticking with real band to keep from wanting to hurl your pc out the window. :-)

But the regeneration is being performed from the BB-VST chord chart! And the chord chart does not include holds, pulls, pushes and all the changes that are set in F5. That alone has to be a show stopper? **

** Disclaimer: I have not upgraded so I know nothing other than what I have read as I weigh the value of the upgrade. So I may be all wrong. crazy

I have upgraded but not received it yet so I am going by forum posts and private conversations. But everything I have read, and the responses to questions I have asked, and the lack of any statement to the contrary by PGM, leads me to think they created a stripped down version of BIAB chordsheet and wrapped it in a VST so we end up with the same or very similar drag/drop functionality we already had. But it is missing key things like holds, etc. which are critical for proper track generation. And apparently the multiriff feature is too slow to use. If this is all it is going to be I'll prolly just avoid the feature and use BIAB and RB as I have in the past.

The hold rest shot push were working but after tempo and time signature change was added they stopped working right so it's only a bug.

This is good to hear. Is there a VST feature list that can be shared so we know what is missing by design and what is a bug so we can understand what to expect?

Users have been very vocal about the problems with the VST, I have not seen this much uproar, I can't see if they are wearing yellow shirts. You just need to keep posting what you see is wrong and what you think it needs doing and adding etc.. that's what programmers are for they listen to what needs doing and do it.

Ok, but I must say it does not make me very happy that customers who just purchased the upgrade must go on a "treasure hunt" for the issues that the programmers need to fix. Seems a bit backasswards to me!

As soon as I get my download my plan is to go through it and at least try and document all that is missing from the VST compared to the full BIAB along with tests as to what happens when I load a BIAB song and save it in VST. Does it retain everything from the original BIAB song? It damn well should but I have no faith that it will.

I can only assume Pipeline knows this since he was a beta tester. OK, that is very promising to hear as this would be very important to my workflow.

But, I have got to call BS on that (of course with a smile grin ). Experience tells me if it ain't in the design it don't get done.

I think JJJ and I are well aligned on this whole item.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
