Something Noel96 said in a post yesterday got me thinking and I think it needs better exposure. RealDrums have Notation therefore MIDI attached to them (is it new to 2019?) This can fairly easily be exported and pulled into a DAW and have a drum VST of your choice assigned to them. You can then fairly easily have each drum on its own track as audio and blend them back to the RealTrack as you wish. Eg. Compress the kick beyond belief and blend it back or put reverb on the snare etc.
Some drum VSTs may need to be remapped to agree with the BB MIDI file but the remap only needs to be created once. Eg. Cakewalk Session Drummer seems fine but Addictive Drums most likely needs a new drum map.
This does in some way provide the ability for adjusting RealDrums. As I said I think this ability needs better exposure. It is spoken about in the BB VST videos but can be done from BB (or at least from the tracks I tried).
Just a thought
Tony

Hi Tony, Yes, it's new in 2019. I was going to put my post over in Tips and Tricks. Hopefully that will help get people talking! There's no doubt about it that the drum notation has HUGE potential! Thank you for reminding me to make the post Regards, Noel P.S. You're right about enhancing existing drums. For example, if one wants a snappier snare, it would be possible to isolate the snare in the MIDI file and then add a drum synth playing the snare while the Realdrums play. This would modify the overall Realdrum snare sound. In theory, the notation and the Realdrum should match really well time-wise, the effect should be seamless.

Man, that is something I've been hoping they would do for ages!! Very cool indeed Is it just for the new realdrums released this year or is it for all the realdrums? (I don't have 2019 yet, I always order between Christmas and New Year)

I’m not sure but I was under the impression it is one of the “new features” in 2019. Easy to check however. Try to export a RealDrums track to MIDI (in BB export to MIDI). If you have a MIDI file with drums sounding the same as the RealDrums track it works. If not it’s cost you 30 secs.

I'll need to wait a couple of weeks, Tony, I don't have 2019 yet.
Not a big deal, was just curious. I'll find out soon enough I guess!

Dave,
Drum notation is newly included with some drums released with 2019. There are are around 21-22 rhythms and most of these have multiple variations.
Like with the Realtracks, when notation is included with Realdrums, there is a green line under the Drum track.
Regards, Noel

Regards, Noel I have been doing this in Ableton for a while now. Using the convert audio to MIDI function it's very easy to take a four or eight bar phrase convert to midi and use any drum sound you would like. The addition of this feature in 2019 will be a great addition but this is very easy to do in Ableton already if you are an ableton user

Tony BiaB's MIDI output is General MIDI (GM). For drums that would be channel 10. Addictive Drums has a GM mode so no drum map is needed. I am not at my music computer right now so I can not give you the actual steps so you will have to search the manual to see where the drums maps are located. I have used Addictive Drums with BiaB a few times so I know it works. Good luck.
Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up. Cop, that's not how field sobriety tests work.

Thanks Mario, it is indeed very easy on Addictive Drums 2 click on the question mark - go to drum map select GM. On Addictive drums go to Beats then Map Window. Unfortunately you lose some of the good stuff the natural AD kits have but that is the way of it. I live and learn. Thanks Tony

Just watched the 50 minute 2019 video. Excellent off-the-cuff comment reminded me ALL the midi styles with drums have drum notation.
Well duh! Shame on me for not remembering until the narrator made the comment in the video.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
