I just sang my song "If love is the answer" on Smule ....check it out please

Not sure if this is a welcomed way to collaborate, but I'll find out... The lyrics are kinda redundant and can be changed. It made the song easier to compose, using the same vocal/lyric building blocks. This is the first time I sang a song in one take. The karaoke format did made this easier to sing, though... All comments welcome smile

---------------------If love is the answer--------

00:08 If your gonna make it...
00:21 in this world..
00:26 You gotta learn...
00:29 what ya been made to fear.

00:33 If Love is the answer...
00:37 If Love is the answer.

00:47 I didn't even know how to start
00:53 till ya showed me...
00:56 How it could be.

01:04 It came from the sky,
01:08 and it makes me wonder
01:14 Nothing is going to change that

01:22 I can almost feel you,
01:29 You gotta learn...
01:32 what ya been made to fear.

01:36 If Love is the answer...
01:40 if Love is the answer.
01:44 Nothing is going to change that.

01:56 That came from the sky,
02:02 and it makes me wonder.
02:07 Something in my eye...

02:15 I can almost feel you
02:23 I can almost feel you
02:27 just before I cry.

02:31 I didn't even know how to start
02:34 till ya showed me...
02:39 How it could be.

02:43 If your gonna make it...
02:47 ( You'd better do it now )

03:00 If Love is the answer...
03:03 If Love is the answer.

03:08 Golden skies... above the ocean.
03:16 Where we Learn to really fly.

03:26 I can almost feel you,
03:29 just before I cry.
03:34 Nothing is going to change that.
03:39 There's something in my eye...
03:44 That came from the sky,
03:49 and it makes me wonder.

03:54 If Love is the answer...
03:57 If Love is the answer...
04:02 If Love is the answer.

I assume you've made a quick demo in an effort to acquire collaborators.
It's very spacey as it and almost works on its own except for some forced/clunky chord changes - BIAB's fault I assume.

Cheers

Hi rayc,
No, the clunky chord changes is my fault. I made this song in all 12 Keys and used FL studio to arrange (3 of 12) keys into one track... my new way to build song progressions... Some of the spaces should have Ohh-ahs, which I left for others to fill in...

The first demo I used Voloco and auto correction from 3 styles from my google drive maybe that was better?

I just fixed the clunky chord changes, and setup "if Love is the Answer " ( Duet )

Interesting

once again you've written a catchy melody

it's just too restless to me, maybe less chords and a more solid foundation

still, it sounds unique to me, maybe you're on to something

enjoyed the listen,

Kenny

Thanks Kenny if the vocals could be properly done.... Strings could be added to make the song have a better foundation ???

You have a fascinating songwriting experiment here & I think the result turned out well... it has a unique sound & feel exactly the way it is... I wouldn't change anything!

"Spacey" is the perfect word to describe the vibe this song gives off. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks Jim
I took a midi file from Lionel Richie "say you say me", it was not well produced... but I figured, if this experiment works, as it did with my last song " To World", using John Lennon's -imagine,.. my method would be on solid ground.

I am suggesting Band-in-a-Box can make unique "cantus firmus progressions"... and I may in the new year, make a video on how to use this method in simple clear steps... hopefully a vocal solution will come

Thanks for your comment Ember- PG Music. I just discovered a possible solution for my vocal problems.

Download the free BlueStacks Android Emulator app and install Sing! Karaoke by Smule on PC or Mac. With the power of your home computer, your recording will instantly sound better, as will your playback quality.

Hmm.... sounds interesting, maybe I could try Voloco autotuner as well wink

Well, I tried Bluestacks emulator, not impressed. Downloaded 400 mb which expands to 2 gigs. Recorded 1 song on Smule... then the mic doesn't work... re-install everything... Mic works only one time again... Not impressed at all.

LPman,

The melody is very catchy and smooth on the unique chord progression.
Cool vocal.
Any effect on it?
Your jazz songs are wonderful, but these fork style songs are also very nice.
Enjoyed my listen a lot.

Best regards.

I really liked this. I think it has the potential to be a great song. Loved the way you delivered the vocal. A few tweaks and you will have a great song

Thanks Scott,
The vocals are the first epiphany vocal searches using Voloco.app

My voice was not able to do a redo

Wonder if I should have used a single guitar?

Thanks David,

I took Lionel Richie's midi Song (say you say me), put it through BIAB, made 12 keys. Then played the same 5 notes, through the whole song the best I could.... then chose where my 5 notes (forgot) sounded best in different changing keys... In this case the keys of D#-G#-A#. I believe you can do this with any ballad.... without plagiarism.

Thanks for you comment

Thanks Greg,
I think I might have to take some singing tips from a Quebec-er singer/song writer named Leonard Cohen 1934–2016.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
