Hello friends. Wanted to post something for the season. I have always loved Christmas and Christmas music. Here is a little nostalgic tune to try to bring back the feeling of the holiday when I was a kid. Hopefully some of my contemporaries here will enjoy it. Comments encouraged!! Take care all. Greg

Really nice song! I’ll bet that all the references are actually true from your memories!

I liked the easy, simple arrangement, and your gentle, smooth vocal marries up to it just right and gives the seasonal feeling perfectly.

Great Christmas contribution!

Greg,

Just one stunning song after another.

A beautiful write. Like a Norman Rockwell painting put to music. Classic.

I could see (hear) any number of top crooners cutting this. And none would do it better than the writer himself...

The perfect BAND. Super vocal. Excellent mix.

I become a bigger fan with each song...

Really great song... I listened to it last evening and again tonight (several times)...
Good work on this one, but I've got a question...
What is that cool sounding chord following C on the line "the radio played Silver Bells"?

PS I forgot to mention I also enjoyed the other 2 songs you linked...
Writing Christmas songs can be a lot of fun!

As soon as this started I pictured myself in a lounge listening to a fantastic 4 piece combo! You really captured that feel!

This should be played on all jazz radio stations during Christmas time!

An outstanding job on a new Christmas classic.

What an outstanding song and performance! I am almost lost for words. You made me have the same feeling as the first time (many decades ago) I heard "What a wonderful world" by Louis Armstrong.

You have such a warm and tender voice that almost could cause me and the country of Denmark to melt down in pure pleasure from listening...

You have an instant Christmas-hit there!

I feel privileged to be one of the people that you shared it with!

Thank you!

Greg,

Yeah, what Floyd said! His comparison of this song to a Norman Rockwell visual is perfect. Stunningly beautiful and so traditional Christmas. You've out-crooned the best of the crooners. You are a jukebox of never-ending classic songs. WOW!

You nailed it - the smokey vibe, the easy-going vocal, picture-painting lyrics... it's all there except for a sax on the fade of the song.

Sounds great! smile

Channeling your crooner side you are! We typically play jazzy Christmas tunes this time of year and, man, this just fits right in.

Instant classic and extremely well performed and produced!!

And the imagery is lovely.

This has been said many times, but an old school crooning pro you definitely are, but to be able to write in that style Sinatra, Dean Martin etc.

That's something else, and you got it !!.

really brilliant xmas song.

Thanks

p.s. Did you write this one or is it a cover version you are doing ?.

Actually, it is largely real memories. The "friend from the war" was based on my dad's lifelong friend who he met in the merchant marines. And, it was actually my grandfather with the super 8 projector.......no candid shots with that thing....and the light bar was so wide it was hard to get down the hall. Great days they were. Wish I could time travel back for one night! Take care. Greg

Cool version of the song Greg. Bing Crosby popped right into my mind when the song started. Small cottage fire going, Lots of snow out the window. Sitting in the a big chair with a pipe with all the family around. I think you nail the song. Well done. Super vocal...

Wow Greg, I almost missed this one! I love the way you have "experimented" with your vocal on this! This is kind of a different side of you with less articulation in your vocal delivery, but it is perfect for this one! You are one of my favorite vocalists here and this is great! Thanks, Torrey

This so sounds like it could of or should be the backdrop to a Christmas movie. It just has "that" perfect sound. Man, you nailed it. Love the song! Thank you for sharing it with us.

Greg,

My apologies for missing the appropriate time to listen to this song of yours. I was helping out so much with testing the new version of BIAB, that I didn't step into Users Showcase too much in December.

I guess I'm getting a head start on Christmas for 2019!

This is such a great write and equally terrific presentation (once again!). In a phrase... Very, very listenable music smile

All the best for 2019,
Noel
