Hi folks,
Just wondering when rendering midi tracks in RB (All midi style) to Wav, is there any easy way to normalize them when doing so, as I can't see any setting such as in biab?
Also I take it the volume faders on the tracks have no bearing when rendering to wav?

On my system page 235 of the manual is also appropriate.
RB is different than BiaB (thankfully)
If you want to 'normalize' a mix in RB, you can just Render the mix (Merge to stereo track) as is
Then Open the resulting wav file in RB and go to:
Track (right click)
Select all (CTRL+A) to select the whole song
then right click - Audio effects
Gain Change
Set it to the Normalize mode or preset
Process the file and re-Render to stereo wav
This is a basic bare bones way to normalize a mix.
In my actual workflow I'd probably insert PGPeakLimit on the A1 (main output) of the RB mixer before initially rendering (or even better use Ozone) to bring things up to the needed levels .. thereby eliminating the extra step.
As I mentioned; RB is different than Biab. Because you have many more options, some choices may take an extra step, but be well worth it once you get the hang of it.
Normalizing Audio is different than normalizing MIDI (velocity changes can actually change how each instrument sounds depending on the synth)
I'd rather 'normalize' audio than MIDI if I like how the synth sounds currently ..
Sorry if this added to the confusion, but there is a difference between normalized MIDI and normalized audio.
Because RB has more options, whether you normalize an Audio file or MIDI can make a big difference.
Make your sound your own!

Usually I just do the basic song in Biab then open in RB, do tend to use a lot of midi styles.
I just generate a number of realtracks then in RB (usually several of the same so as to get variations) then render the midi tracks in RB and import the resulting Wav files into Cubase.
Thanks again for enlightening me on the difference between normalizing midi tracks and audio, does make sense.

Hi  I am some what puzzled by this post. If you have been to all the trouble to balance the mix of the midi tracks volume in the mixer, and also used a touch sensitive keyboard to play in notes of varying velocity,For expression, on say the melody track. Then surely you would want to maintain that mix and expression in the final audio file. Making sure that the overall volume of the audio file is up to the correct volume level. I can not see any reason to undo all of that, and bring all the tracks and quiet passages up to the same level. May be I misunderstand your intentions Mike

I just import the biab song into RB, mainly to have the option then of generating Realtracks that will fit with song.
I don't do any mixing at all in RB, just render everything to WAV files and import the lot into Cubase.
Would like to do some mixing in RB, but no proper toolbox like in Cubase, with scissors split, X mute part of track, which I don't understand for a modern DAW should be there in RB, just easier to do so in Cubase.
I know there are other ways to do the above in RB with volume changes, cut and paste etc but I find in easier to do this in Cubase.
Saying all that, RB is invaluable for generating Realtracks, seeing and editing the chord sheet etc

If you have a track that is a -60 dB with one tiny spike -5 dB normalize will only raise the track proportionally 5dB.You could get rid of the little spike and then the track would raise 60dB. Never normalise after you mix. Normalise all your tracks one at a time then mix. After you've rendered to a stereo file you can normalise again and it won't affect the mix.
If you ever worked in the day of tape the goal was to record each track as hot as you can cause there's no such thing as normalise with tape.
