Wow, no response at all. I can only imagine folks have given up on these features acknowledging that things are broke and we have to wait for patches to come.

Just being patient so I do not go off on one. L.O.L.
Ya, I feel that is the same boat many of us are in. In my case, I have a reputation to maintain here. Don't want to be that guy who goes crazy and flames out in the forum over these current issues. But where are the patches?
I have had this problem in earlier BIAB releases (at least in 2017)with certain VST Instruments, for example, Action Strikes. I can confirm that this happens also with BIAB 64 v610. The file is saved, but not with my VST selection.

Thanks for the confirmation. You bring up a good point. I also was aware that past versions of BIAB did not handle VSTs very reliably. I long ago stopped even trying and moved quickly to my DAW for these. However, with BIAB2019 64bit I was assuming (hoping for) better behavior.
Does having just a single instance of the VST loaded make any difference?
(I don't know too much about VSTs and BIAB because I rarely use VSTs in the program. Like you mentioned, I also take files to my DAW and use VSTs there.)
I do know that not all VSTs are equal. Some work better than others. This is also true of other programs that use VSTs (such as DAWs). I've occasionally had Reaper lockup because it had an argument with a particular plugin.

Hi Dan,
I just finally had some time to play with the 64 bit BiaB. I loaded a style and added 5 different Kontakt programs, one for each track. The song generated with no problems. I then restarted my machine and the VSTis loaded with the song. So I powered down my computer, came back 10 minutes later, loaded the song and again the VSTis were loaded with the song. So at least with Kontakt all is working well here. I will try it with other VSTis later.
Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up. Cop, that's not how field sobriety tests work.
64 bit Win 10 Pro, the latest BiaB/RB, Roland Octa-Capture audio interface, a ton of software/hardware
I installed V611 and it did not save the EightyEight V2 VST . Then I installed the V612 pre-release above and it still did not save. At least it did not crash.
So I thought maybe this piano VST is a problem so lets try another VST on the piano track. Picked VSTSynthFont64. When I hit play all midi on all tracks went silent.
I could not reproduce any problems with loading or saving songs that included the EightyEight 2 VST (using build 612). Could you try loading one of these example files? The VST should be on the Piano track. Note that I am using the demo version of the VST, but it should work.
OK, I am home now. Been on the road with the day job.
I loaded your 64bit into my BIAB64 v612 and low and behold the Eighteight v2 VST was there just as you apparently saved it.
So I closed, opened my .sgu file, installed the Eighteight v2 VST, played it, saved it, closed BIAB, Opened BIAB, opened my .sgu song again and the VST was not there. It did not save it.
OK, I repeated the process, but this time used the piano VSTi with a plain yellow midi track. All worked fine this time. The piano VSTi was saved with the song file.
So the Midi piano VSTi was saved with the file when used on a plain yellow midi track but does not save when used with a blue midi super track.
No charge for finding this bug. Lets get this fixed.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
