Yoke Up!

Song about some wise advise.

========================
Tomorrow it might be gone;
Tomorrow's a bit too long;
Let's make it today.

We wait..why I've wondered;
We're so late--
Have we blundered?

We know that yesterday was a windfall;
Call it a godsend, 'cause we simply got the breaks;
Risky game, laying low,
Jump the flame, and on we go,
Though we've always known..

They said it's no joke--go YOKE UP!
They said it's no joke--go YOKE UP!

Maybe lazy, guess we're hooked;
Kinda crazy--
'Cause once we looked--it's simple.

Impossible happ'nings are proof that we know it's true!
If you give it a chance it will come to you!
We've learned to remember whatever we choose to do:

Fill the air in your square!
Live the day!
Dare to walk the way..

Despite your good stroke, you're broke!
Won't last, burn fast!
's no joke--go YOKE UP.

=======================
I mentioned in another forum that I lost all of my project files over the weekend, so I can't say which BIAB components I used, but likely some basic bossa components, with a bari sax solo.

I like the mix on this - heavy dependence on the drums and light, tasteful instruments.

Try as I might, I could not figure out what the song is about. Eggs?

Interesting piece. Enjoyed this. You did a good job on the mix, arrangement, performance and production. No Yoke --- err I mean joke... wink

I really liked this. Your arrangement is perfect for this. Great bongos and sax breaks. This sounds like it might have come from the 50s beatnik era.

Good job on this.

PS - What the hell is this song about?

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.
Cop, that's not how field sobriety tests work.

Eggs? Not eggs-actly! Omelet you in on the real story..

Song of a Christian, during time of Christ, wondering why all the miracles and fantastic happenings aren’t enough to convince the “lucky” in life to accept the easy yoke that has been offered.

I’ll take it as a compliment that I was obtuse enough to give it a “hidden message”!

Thanks for all the kind comments!

Cool! Very cool. Janice and I always enjoy a Bossa. It's amazing how that groove has sustained itself so well over the years.

We love the write, the arrangement, the vocals and BiaB band.

Nice first post for the year and we hope you have a quick resolution regarding the hard drive issue.

Happy New Year,

J&B

Tano,

You done it again!
Tom, you have a very un-generic approach. I salute and admire your journey.
It was a fun listen. Thank you for posting!

Misha.

Hi Tano,

everything very cool about this laid-back Bossa. The tenor solo fits in brilliantly. Enjoyed the listen very much.

Happy New Year,

Stefan

Love the sound of this!! Easy on the ears, tasty arrangement and nice mix. I hear a lot of Michael Franks in this one (I;m a big fan of his). Very, very nice!! Take care. Greg

"Tano Music"...

"Yoke Up!" is charming, cool, and elegant, all at the same time. I liked the slightly irregular verse lengths because they made your singing sound more spontaneous.

Your strings arrangement is lean, low-key, and luxuriant, a perfect companion to the percussion-flavored bossa nova rhythm. The organ shots are retro-fabulous, and Gary Smulyan's baritone sax riffs are strappingly sinuous.

You seem to write lyrics as easily a rolling a smoke! They lend a casual, off-the-cuff feel to "Yoke Up", as though you were a cocktail jazz pianist performing during "Happy Hour" in a local club, dropping clever one-liners and dispensing tidbits of personalized wisdom to your audience.

Dave Frishberg would appreciate "Yoke Up", I think. I sure do!

At the bar,

LOREN

Hi Tano Music
I like this song, sorry for your computer HD, problem.... Something snapped in me, I haven't touched my keyboard in over a month! So I feel for ya.... I been trying to improve my vocals. I like the challenge of singing partial improvisation, right now on smule... I have never been happy singing to my own compositions... so far... Maybe, if I can find a style to sing in, I will use BiaB more effectively. This forum has a feeling of family, and you are definitely part of it.

Right now, singing on smule... is giving me a chance to look at lyric composition... and to listen to myself... maybe it's an option... to consider

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
