Think about that... I like the solo of that Scat!

Very cool bluezy jazz or jazzy blues. Do not know where is that line of separation. Besides that everything is great on it from guitar to vocals to production, I do have a comment. I think that Janice should do more of these "chance" solos and more of these silly little ditties smile This is true music.

Thank you!

Well done Janice, Bud, and Peter! This was wonderful and I found this very easy to listen. The vibe was very appealing and has a good tone on the guitar. The vocals harmonize well with the other instruments. Great collaboration!

I suppose telling you that I was smiling and bobbing my head along the entire time wouldn't suffice as a comment?

Where I'm struggling is I'm trying to put into words what I really liked about the guitar that has no words and the scatting which aren't words either.

Is it enough just to say this song is all about feel and that's what it does exceptionally well! I absolutely loved it. It was fun to listen to. The solos were fantastic as where the production and just writing overall to showcase the talent.

Great job you three!

Hey, we much appreciate that review! And thanks for mentioning her “solo.” She did it on one take. I’ve been suggesting to her that she have a go at scatting. She’s always singing guitar parts smile

Always nice to hear this familiar rock'n'roll formula well produced and with excellent vocals, that scat is refreshing addition.

Well, how much fun was that?!

Loved this from start to finish.

That "WHY DONCHA SCAT, SCAT, THINK ABOUT THAT" line is a nice hook, stays with you after the song is over.

The scat is awesome (overused word I know, but it fits), and Peter as usual is right on the money with his guitar work.

And as usual the mix is perfection.

Nice one you three!

Hey, thanks for those remarks. And, yes, feel is THE word. Three chords like this or more complex...what matters to us in singing and playing in any genre is feel - soul. We may not be able to well articulate it but we know when it ain’t there! We appreciate your thoughts.

Janice, Bud & Peter,

What an awesome song! Some great guitar and production. Love the rhythm of this tune...

Of course, the vocal is outrageously good - Janice has all the scatting swagger of Carmen McRae - just so good!

Loved it all!

The bass part has been masterfully tailored to enhance the feel of the sing.

And scat is a great way to deliver too!

Hey, hot threesome,

that's really smoking..

Aside from the fact that this is my kind of music anyway, this one is especially nice, great, ouztstanding - simply love it - needless to tell you that it's already on my playlist !

Janice, you're a real scat cat, Bud, it sounds as good as always when you're involved and, Peter, yes: what you played here could as well be played by Slowhand himself.

But the whole thing leaves me with a serious question: Is ther anything Janice couldn't sing?

So good, so good !!!!

Cheers,

Stefan

Nice work on this one, guys! A really interest approach to scatting - I don't think I've ever heard it implemented in a non-jazz tune before. Makes for a really unique and engaging listen. Plus, the mix is superb. Sounds concise and professional.

Thanks so much for sharing smile

I like EVERYTHING about this!

The opening guitar is sweet!

The groove of the track is perfect. The short drum breaks are well placed throughout.

The mix is impeccable - as always.

The vocal...flawless...epic...the stuff of legends.

"...silly little ditty..." Yeah... right...

smile

Stellar, y'all.

Glad you liked it!

Another testament to you guys versatility. Top it off with all the feel and fun emoting from your songs; to the stunning vocals of Janice; the magic mix by Bud - This song has all the beauty of one of those "to die for" lemon meringue pies featured on the cover of "Southern Living" magazine.

Hey Stefan, you made Janice smile big...that was a very generous comment. There very few genres of music that we don’t listen to so I guess that plays a role for sure. And Janice has long admired Jazz and Big Band scat singers. Glad we got around to trying it. Thanks!

All three of you are at the top of your games. “One take” Janice embraces her natural ability. Peter shows off his complimentary skill and Bud showcases how far his production chops have come over the years. All three of you have spent countless hours perfecting your crafts and have presented them in this top shelf offering. An excellent listen. Very well done! Tom

Wow this is brilliant and to me entirely new ,Scat I had never heard of this.

Honestly no matter what you do and the way you do it, always sounds true pro to me.

Peter Guitar was a stunning addition, along with Janice's vocal and you Bud at the helm.

Another to set the bar higher for us all.

P.S. In a good way of course.

Everything is just right. I always like what I get to listen to from y'all.

It is really easy to over play a guitar part on something like this. Everything is only there to support the vocal. Great job at doing that.

The vocal speaks for it self. Dead on!!

Y'all come back soon.

Hi there J&B.

I missed my chance to get in first, but maybe this song deserves one more comment!

FABULOUS.

Well, that says it all really.

Janice, you know by now that I'm just your biggest fan, but you're really flying here.
Wonderful expression and improvisation, plus the humour shining through everywhere. Faultless.

And Peter, what a superb piece of guitar playing, soaring above everything. Loved it.

Yes, and Bud - your mixing just gets better and better old friend. This could not be improved upon!

So, a fabulous song and congratulations to all involved.

Cheers, ROG.

Hi Janice, Bud and Peter,

I congratulate you all on a seriously magnificent effort. This is incredibly "listenable". (That 'eagles/weasels' rhyme really got my attention. How creative is that! smile

The writing, the arrangement and the production truly sparkle with polish and professionalism. The sound is great. It's the sort of over-arching sound that I would love to be able to achieve when I produce something.

Bud and Peter, while I don't know who did what, your combined work has created a great instrumental backing and solos. Kudos to you!

And Janice's singing... at the risk of sounding banal because of hyperbolic overload, the words that came into my head as the song played were: superb; love it!; Janice really knows how to craft super melodies; I'd love to be able to sing a tenth as good; competence and skill everywhere; a real joy to listen to. Then when the scatting arrived, the very first thought that came to mind was "ELLA FITZGERALD". Janice's ability to extemporise is of the highest order. Wonderful stuff indeed!!!

It's been so long since I've typed anything much on these forums that my fingers seem to be suffering from muscle fatigue!

I apologise for being so very late.

All the best to everyone,
Noel

Great tune, but especially loved going from SCAT as a lyric to actually scat singing, what a great device!

Noel, good to hear from you! You are too kind regarding the lyric. So much blues including most of mine is just a platform for the soloists and singers to do their thing on. I wish other genre lyrics would come as easy smile

Regarding the over arching sound...I don't think I would've achieved that w/o Waves LinMB. My experience with that multi-band compressor on the stereo buss has been very positive over the years for many songs.

Janice LOVES Ella and for you to mention her gives Janice a HUGE and humble smile! As nearly always it was one take. When she's ready...she's ready smile

Thank you so much for the listen and your time to offer such supportive comments. We appreciate you.

Bud

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
