been on the side line for a long time .
all the way back to bb box 10 ,have all the band in a box and was happy when they came out with 2019 and seen the new DAW but then was sad that their was no 32 bit version . then they came out with version 1.9.19.0 in update 611 with a stand alone 32bit exe.
down loaded it and when to use it and it said ,
C:\bbplugin\files\32-bit \band-in-a- box DAW plugin stand alone 32 EXE.is not a valid win 32 appication.

use window xp pro with sp 3 bb 2019 work just fine but not the new DAW
sonar 7 producer edition
cool edit pro 2

ps just an old timer wanting to learn more and do more.

"the plugin was originally designed and tested for Windows 7 and higher, so it may not work on earlier systems."
They are going to have a look at it to see if they can make a version that will work on XP.

"that would be so nice for us oldtimers on XP"
lowboy: It would be nice for us new timers running Win 10 with plenty of processing power too...

As I look through this plugin forum posts I am seeing that the plugin was/is not ready for primetime in 2019. I am certainly not accustomed to buying software that is still being developed contrary to its advertised capabilities and not tested in all environments it is touted to support. I am very disappointed with this so far. frown frown
And as a Pro Tools user I am even more annoyed that it seems from perusing these pages that the AAX version is not addressed, not really a priority evidently as it seems to be with VST DAWs. cry cry
What (management) genius forced release of 2019 with so many serious issues and shortcomings still apparent and marketed it as ready for primetime and working? sick sick

I was just told by Mikke in support that it appears you are trying to access the plugin by trying to open it like an application . where I come from if you have a stand alone exe that is a application in itself.I've try to open it as a daw in my sonar 7 no way would it open .I fell that they are leaving us by the way side us old timer running window xp pro with sp3 and like you said window 10
the new DAW is why I upgraded to 2019 bb I'm sorry now that I did ,I've been buying Band in a box all the way back to bbox 10. I would hope they would try
to make it run in xp and win 10 .I hope they fix it .it just make me sad .

Sorry if I'm being contentious but personally I don't think they should spend a second trying to make the plugin (or anything else) work on XP. It is no longer supported and security updates are no longer provided by Microsoft. I sincerely hope none of you are connecting to the internet (or your home network if that in turn is connected to the internet) using these XP machines. No software provider can/should be expected to support out of date software. Please upgrade your machines for your own peace of mind (and mine!).

Thanks,
Paul

I feel ya lowboy the problem is XP has been dead for several year no support and no protection so its hard for developers to support it for software.

I hear you as I am getting close to that exact situation. But one must remember that when you stop upgrading a system one must be very careful on what new software they purchase. I realize that if or when I can not upgrade my old system I must go off-line and not purchase any more software. As already been mentioned that XP is old, actually 4 generations old, and not supported by anyone anymore. Sorry to rain on your parade but that is the cold hard truth.

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.

I do understand lowboy, I really do, but I would hate to see your email, bank account, credit card, etc details stolen. Sadly there are many bad people out there and I fear for people using XP if they connect to the web.

Thanks,
Paul

I'm sorry I have to say to you that your son gave you a very old Windows O.S. After 7, you had 8, 8.1 (a sort of 9), and now new generations of 10. I think Windows 10 is the best of all, so start thinking about it as from next year nobody will support software for Windows 7. Microsoft made a commitment to provide 10 years of product support for Windows 7 when it was released on October 22, 2009. When this 10-year period ends, Microsoft will discontinue Windows 7 support so that we can focus our investment on supporting newer technologies and great new experiences. The specific end of support day for Windows 7 will be January 14, 2020. After that, technical assistance and automatic updates that help protect your PC will no longer be made available for the product. Microsoft strongly recommends that you move to Windows 10 sometime before January 2020 to avoid a situation where you need service or support that is no longer available.

But in 11 months, you'll be back in the leaky boat when Win7 support ends.

FYI - I upgraded from Win 7 to Win 10 and kept all of my old software. I even have an old Win 95 photo graphic program running on Win 10, as well as MS Office 97. You may lose some old games that took shortcuts that will not work on Win 10, my wife found that out but I did find Win 10 duplicate games for her, but a properly coded program will be available via the compatibility mode. YMMV.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
