Hi All,

Here's a new song.

This is a play on the doomsday phrase

[Link no longer valid]

There’s a fire on the border in the midday sun
Mothers and daughters under the gun
What is this thing called human rights
It gets erased under the cover of night

Stop the clock
Somebody pull the plug
Shine the light
Two minutes to midnight

There’s a man with a sign in Central Park
Saying jack the mayor and jack the cops
I’m watching like a statue on a granite base
You better get yourself back to Chelsea Place

Stop the clock
Somebody pull the plug
Shine the light
Two minutes to midnight

There’s you and me we got bleeding hearts
The horse is running away from his cart
I’ve got a watch never could tell time
And the weight of love and a suspicious mind

Stop the clock
Somebody pull the plug
Shine the light
Two minutes to midnight

Stop the clock
Somebody pull the plug
Shine the light
Boom two minutes to midnight

All BIAB Tracks:
2474: Bass, Acoustic, Held Ev 085
2505: Piano, Electric, HeldChords 085
789: Guitar, Electric, Rhythm CrossoverClean 090
832: Guitar, Electric, Rhythm, AltCountryMoody Ev 075
Chorus Loop: Chillout/Chillout_dimensions_145
RealDrums: PopPromiseEv16 a:Snare on 4, HiHat, b: Snare

As always - thanks for listening!

Bob

I liked that arp guitar too really fits the mood. Cool line about the watch not keeping time.
Very Dylanesque which I always enjoy. Sounds great here. smile

Bob,

Great title and inspiration behind this.I like the punchy chorus...and, of course, there are always nuggets of lyrical brilliance in your writing,(Josie beat me to it on the Dylanesque feel of this).
Your use of that AltCountry guitar is so good here.
Another excellent song!

Very cool but 2474: Bass, Acoustic, Held Ev 085 has a few problems.
Particularly when used with the very clicky kick drum.
It's very big n boomy and when the notes are muted they die unnaturally.
The combination of big and unnatural decay seem at odds.
The muting could be addressed by adding a little delay or a very tiny bit of reverb and the boominess, well, if you reduce some of the bass and add what you reduced to the kick's bottom end it might work.
I found myself spending quite a bit of time EQ Real Drum tracks to remove some click and add some thump.

Cheers

Nice! Love the way you paint a picture with your lyrics.

Lots of great lines happening, I especially liked "What is this thing called human rights
It gets erased under the cover of night", and "I’m watching like a statue on a granite base
You better get yourself back to Chelsea Place".

Strong, memorable chorus also.

And of course your signature vocal sound.

Great stuff, Bob, enjoyed the listen!

Bob,

Another excellent write. Tight.

You keep coming up with great BANDs. Simple and solid with a start-the-tape-and-record-one-perfect-take feel. Impressive.

Man oh man, what a chorus!

"Stop the clock
Somebody pull the plug
Shine the light
Two minutes to midnight"

And what a great verse (of many)!

"There’s you and me we got bleeding hearts
The horse is running away from his cart
I’ve got a watch never could tell time
And the weight of love and a suspicious mind "

As others said the arp guitar was perfecto as was the arrangement, band and mix.

Your voice was born for this Americana feel/genre that we so often listen to.

Outstanding!

"Stop the clock

I feel this very keenly most nights. I'm a chronic insomniac and it seems like the days just bleed together somedays and time just moves far too quickly.

Thanks for sharing! Great song.

What a tune! A really solid write, and that chorus is absolutely perfect. The arrangement is top notch as well. The whole thing sounds really professional - a really nicely executed Americana tune.

Hey Bob,

great write, good backing band

you always write and sing a strong solid chorus

to bring home the message and song

and tho I don't agree with most of your political sentiments

I do appreciate your poetry and emotional deliveries

enjoyed,

Kenny

Ray,

Thanks. I didn't hear a lot of boomy bass, but take your point. It may be my monitors, etc.

Your lyrics are first rate. What a great opening lyric: "There’s a fire on the border in the midday sun": That line is loaded. Great title too. It make one want to listen to your song. I, too, love the arpeggio guitar, which is a perfect complement to your vocal delivery.

Great lyrics carried by the driving force of the arrangement. Poweful Dylanesque chorus. Your voice is mixed nicely to the front.

Great vocal!
A bit smell of Bob Dylan.
A well-chosen and well-sounding arrangement.
I also think that arp guitar works great as Tommyad said.
Enjoyed my listen a lot.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
