Hi everybody, all clear: no weird stuff in this one ... It’s just a love song I wrote for Maha in 2008 and brought to life in late 2016, thus it’s the fifth song arranged with Band-in-a-box / RealBand and the fifth video produced with Camtasia. And for Maha it was the fifth mixing job using RealBand, too. The original video was a rather private one, more or less a slide show of pictures taken from our photo album, but later I turned it into a public version by replacing our pix by some beautiful romantic scenes hijacked from a lovely couple’s’ video (with a Creative Commons license, of course). As you will see, I then - unlike in my recent videos - still added almost no own video material, but made ‘generously’ use of third party video clips. The song is just as little spectacular as the vid - it’s rather a mainstream thing - I hope you will nevertheless enjoy listening and watching. Thanks for taking the time to check it out. Cheers, Stefan VIDEO (with lyrics) AUDIO (with lyrics) AUDIO (on Soundcloud) And here’s the ‘band’: Style is _JFMOVIN.STY (Jazz Funk Movin') RealTracks in style: 1768:Bass, Electric, JazzFunkMovin Ev16 130 RealTracks in style: 1772:Piano, Electric, Rhythm JazzFunkMovin Ev16 130 RealTracks in style: 1770:Guitar, Electric, Rhythm JazzFunkMovinChords Ev16 130 RealTracks in style: 1771:Guitar, Electric, Rhythm JazzFunkMovinMuted Ev16 130 I replaced the original RealDrums in style (JazzFunkMovin^) by my own drum track (via MT-Power Drums) And I added a B3 organ: RT673: Horns arrangement written using the RB PianoRoll and brought to life by BigFish's Vintage Horns (via Kontakt 5) Guitar Solo: me

Stefan,
I agree with the above comments. This is really well done.
A good love-song write - uptempo love songs are not easy to "get right" - and you've done that!
Super vocals and harmonies. Excellent horns!! A REALLY good mix (kudos the Maha). Nice guitar work.
All around good. Your best, I think... (so far).

Nice work on this! Really, really catchy and I love how to implemented the MIDI horns. Some top notch harmonies to boot, and you got a hit! I thought the production sounded professional and concise as well. You should be proud of this one - thanks for sharing

Ditto... nice work on that all the way around.
You can find my music at: www.herbhartley.comAdd nothing that adds nothing to the music. You can make excuses or you can make progress but not both. The magic you are looking for is in the work you are avoiding.

Stefan, you wrote for Maha and made her mix? What is this? It is like inviting a girl on a date and make her buy her own flowers? Great job on this! Everything is superb from vocals to arrangement to mixing. P.S. You took a romantic break and that is fine. Back to fun & weird stuff! Thank you for sharing! Misha.

Love your guitar and the cool playing! Hi Brian, thanks a lot for listening and watching. And of course for your very kind words. As far as guitar playing is concerned: The 'faster' days are history - now it's Old Snailhand trying hard not to muddle up the strings... Thanks again for the compliments. Stefan

fj Hello Floyd, thanks a lot for taking the time to watch and listen. I'm really flattered by what you commented, and, of course, I immediately told Maha (who unfortunately is still in the hospital) that you emphasized that she did a great job. I think that it will help her a bit to get well again... Well, being a member of this great forum I think we all agree on this motto: 'The best is yet to come'. Whatever, I'll do my very best... All the best, Stefan

Enjoyed this very much. Hi beatmaster, thank you very much for your kind words, I really appreciate them a lot. As to your question: No, no harmonizer - every single note was squeezed out of those old and frayed vocal cords. But I have to admit that I had to slightly pitch correct two or three (OK, four or five...) notes of the middle part using the respective RealBand feature. Cheers, Stefan

Will Hi Will, I will ask Maha (who's still in hospital) if she would like to be borrowed... But you always do great mixing jobs yourself, so there's no real need, actually !!!! Thank you so much for your very nice and friendly comment on this song which even means more to me as I know that you really have notion of music! Have a nice weekend and all the best up north, Stefan

Everything is superb from vocals to arrangement to mixing. P.S. You took a romantic break and that is fine. Back to fun & weird stuff! Thank you for sharing! Misha. Well, Misha, it's not quite like you said: I had written the song so long ago, and after Maha, ten years later, was still sure that my lover's oath hadn't been just jabber, she decided that I might be worth the mixing effort Or you might regard it as sort of a payback thing... Thanks a lot for your positive and kind comment on the song that apparently was taken care of by my Dr Jeckyll side wanting to start the year on a romantic note. But don't you be afraid: Mr Hyde is already peepng around the corner, carrying a big bag full of fun and weirtd stuff Have a pleasant weekend. Cheers, Stefan

Hi Stefan,
Overall impression Congratulations Stefan on a slick and agreeable track Mix / Production everything is clear, audible and in its place Instrumentation Cool horns if sometimes a touch intrusive Cool organ sound well played gtr solo Vocals nicely balanced between the lead and harmony parts sung with conviction! What I really liked slick and agreeable track with an upbeat feel the chord structure in verse What you might like to return to It might be an idea to check your lyrics out with a native English speaker pre-recording (you’ll avoid clunky lines like “can make the wrongest things right » The drum track sounded a little too busy for my taste Perhaps too long – there was a choice to be made between either the gtr solo or the horns interlude

Firstly, we hope Maha is improving!
One word comes to mind listening to his tune...classy!
The vocals, the "old snail hand" guitar, the arrangement, back tracks and the mix are all, as Gegg Allman says, hittin' the note. Everything is in the pocket and result sounds excellent on the KRK's. It presents a very nice soundstage.
The video was lovely and we can also envision a B&W video with a set like you would have seen with Frank or Dean or Sammy.
Misha said "you wrote for Maha and made her mix? What is this? It is like inviting a girl on a date and make her buy her own flowers?" hahahha We like the flowers she bought!
Most excellent!

Dear Janice, dear Bud, like always your comment is so kind - thanks a lot for the nice things you wrote. And, of course, thanks a lot for your good wishes for Maha - I will come back to this issue in a PM. But despite of all problems she was so glad when she heard that you had thought of her and that you liked her 'flowers'. All the very best, and thank you so much for everything, Stefan

I like the running feeling of this song. This speed is comfortable. The horn arrangement is excellent. As many others said, great vocals and guitar work and Maha nailed the mix. Enjoyed my listen a lot.
Best regards.
Shigeki Adachi

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option
Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!
Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!
For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.
Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!
Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
