I wish there was a way to like a post on the forum to say that I agree with that person's post and I think it is importan. This would be really handy for the Band in a Box whislist section.

I'd rather hear why you like a post and encourage more discussion.

Doesn't a simple +1 do just that?

Or are you asking for a like button that keeps a running tab of the number of likes? If this is what you are asking for then +1.

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.
Cop, that's not how field sobriety tests work.

Completely agree. No interest in Facebook like features. Social media and many forums are way too transient. I was a mod on a board that added a like feature and it killed conversation. The User Showcase would collapse.

FWIW, etc., ole guy two cents worth smile

I also prefer comments that are encouragement to the OP.

Meanwhile, +1.

I've modified my initial post to more accurately reflect the intent of my reply. Obviously I don't do sarcasm well.

I tend to agree with Charlie and Bud on this. I like discussion, even on topics that some consider to be dangerous territory.

This forum is way better than most at drawing users into the conversation... maybe because there are no built-in shortcuts (like a thumbs up or a like button) to let the respondent off the hook for offering a more substantial reply.

But in addition to its value, every coin has two sides. The other side of this coin is the long term effect of hearing everybody's opinions on every topic. Eventually conversation becomes as predictable as dinner banter in a stale marriage. You know what everybody is going to say before they say it.

But you already knew I was going to say that, so I'll stop there.

;-)

--- It's worth noting that in discussion forums, people who are good with the written word tend to dominate.
--- Not everybody has that skill. Even among those who are good with words, not everybody feels comfortable
--- expressing their thoughts in public. Yet I think its fair to say that most people in a forum feel a sense
--- of membership in the tribe, and they want to contribute in whatever way is most comfortable to them.

--- The easy agreement options (like buttons, thumbs up, emoji etc) have become the de facto way for quiet people
--- to fit in by agreeing with comments made by others.

--- They also keep busy forums from being flooded with multiple posts saying almost the same thing. So I see
--- value in both points of view.

Reasonable comments, Pat. Some forums are like that, but fortunately people are more sensible and moderate on this forum. As Donny says, people leave their egos at the door. It's a good thing, and makes this forum stand out. Regardless, your points are valid. Some folk prefer brevity.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
