Sontradr buys Big Sync Music

I went to BSM's website and saw this "Our creative team know artists that don’t even exist yet. Brief them today and see what gems they can uncover." That doesn't immediately inspire a lot of confidence in the acquired company smile Their website is an assault on the senses but they have a helluva client list.

FWIW, etc.

I dropped my PRO account with them last month. I still check in every so often. We'll have to see if this leads to more/better listings.

Samuel. I have also dropped my PRO account. I would still love to hear from anyone who has success with ST. I think we are up against people who submit tens or even hundreds of songs for a single opportunity frown

We are earning approximately $75 quarterly from ST for our licensed songs and streaming distribution. The bulk is from Mood Media. Not a lot but it more than pays the small $4 a month for the Pro Plan and that includes unlimited Album, EP and single distribution. Not a lot of earnings but a lot of fun for us.

I made about $2.50 last quarter from my 1 song that is licensed to Mood Media. If they still did blanket license deals I would like it more but sunset switching to "Monitization" I don't know anyone who has seen any blanket deals go through.

I'm still pursuing music licensing but in more of a traditional sense, by submitting to music libraries. (Or at least I will be once I get my catalog built up.)

I dropped my Pro account too. Reading "Songtradr is the only fully-automated..." which means an algorithm is 'pitching' my songs and that is less than inspirational to me.

I've got a higher percentage landing deals from luck/chance than I've placed with Songtradr. One lucky placement and zero Songtradr deals. Luck/chance odds are similar to winning the big lottery of which one's odds of being chosen to travel to Mars is greater than winning that lottery.

I don’t think that means algorithms make selections. I think it references the procedure by which a buyer can license a song through an on line process sans talking to a person or dealing with paper work.

We have three songs on three different featured genre playlists that have only around a dozen songs each. The songs are completely appropriate to the genre. I don’t believe this was done via an algorithm. An algorithm might determine if the tempo is in the ballpark, eq info, etc. - perhaps even determine if there are words in the lyric appropriate to the request but it’s not gonna evaluate the “feel” of the tune re vocal timbre, emotion, phrasing, instrumental prowness, etc.

We have had songs shortlisted for final selection that were only peripherally related to the song example in the request.

But there is more than ample precedent for me being completely wrong!

I could be wrong too. There's enough ambiguity in the article for both us to be wrong. It's all speculation about Songtradr's proprietary technologies.

Here is the complete statement from the article: " Songtradr is the only fully-automated, open music licensing marketplace in the world, with over 400,000 artists and catalogs from 190+ countries, developing real-time data intelligence, such as the utilization of streaming and social metadata to guide the licensing experience." followed by: <<< Songtradr’s data and technology infrastructure also allows Big Sync to match a brand’s target product audience with data-matched selections of music. Combining this data intelligence with our teams’ music supervision experience is a game changer and will provide our clients a more efficient and transparent service.”>>>

Also from the link you posted:

<<< About Songtradr
Songtradr connects artists to film, TV, brands and other media in a fully-automated, worldwide marketplace for music licensing. Music creators control their content and rights and have the ability to monetize their music through licensing to all forms of media, including distribution to all major streaming platforms. Using Songtradr’s proprietary technologies, music supervisors, brands, filmmakers and other creatives, can easily license music from a vast community of artists, bands, record labels and publishers. >>>

Lol, we are both stuck with the age old problem of definitions and interpretations. To me, fully-automated proprietary technologies to develop real-time data intelligence, such as the utilization of streaming and social metadata to guide the licensing experience appears Songtradr is using custom and proprietary algorithms and providing the 'data' to Big Sync. The stage in the merging of the two companies where "Combining this data intelligence with our teams’ music supervision." is the point the human element is added and human judgement assessment of the song begins.

To me, it appears the merger with Big Sync was for Songtradr to move into the 'human element' market. Just a guess and mere speculation on my part but there is no mention in the article of any live person intervening in Songtradr's 'fully-automated' selection process.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
