Hopefully that made sense. I have a song with an intro that is 95 BPM. Then it switches to 130 BPM. At that point at the bar settings I change style, it was out of range for 95, which is now fine.
If I want to generate different instruments in the first section would I just highlight those bars? Or is there an easier and more logical way to do it? Same with the second section.
Thank you all.

Changing instruments is easy from Band in a Box. Each channel in the mixer can have as many as 10 different instruments when using Realtracks. I'm not sure if that limitation is the same if you're making midi patch changes but there should be no issue whether you're using a RealTrack or midi.

To make a single instrument change, the simplest thing is to open Bar Settings (F5) to the bar you want the change to occur. Select the RealTracks Button near the top of the screen. Follow the prompts to select a RealTrack and ok your way out of all the menus.

To change to another instrument or to revert back to the original instrument, open Bar Settings at the bar you want to make the next change and select the RealTracks button again and follow the prompts to make this change.

Note if you want to program a entire song, you can access the Medley feature to program the various instruments and change intervals by opening the RealTracks Picker and selecting the Medley Button in the upper right of the window.

Using the RealTracks Medley feature, you can have two (or more) instruments play simultaneously on the same track.

If your track is a midi track, you can also change patches from the Bar Settings page.

Hope this helps.

Thanks very much for the response! Yes I have generated many many different tracks at different times for various songs and exported them to a separate folder from which to drop them in the sonar. I'm basically wondering about beginning that new instrument at a particular bar sense I change tempo right around bar 30 from 95 up to 130. For instance a mandolin or a Bouzouki that would fit with 130 BPM would be way out at 95. Thanks again!

Are you familiar with Real Band? Yes, you can do this in Biab but RB is way easier plus you have 48 tracks to mess with. RB is a DAW so you see each track displayed horizontally just like any other DAW. And yes, all you do is highlight a section of track, right click the highlighted section and select a style, instrument, midi or RT's and hit Generate. Unlike Biab RB treats each track individually just like any other DAW so you're not changing any other tracks. There's much more you can do in RB that's related to this but I'll leave it there. Just go to the RB forum.

<<< I'm basically wondering about beginning that new instrument at a particular bar sense I change tempo right around bar 30 from 95 up to 130. >>>

To change an instrument at a particular bar:

Select the mixer channel that you want to change instruments.

For Example:

Channel Two - Piano

In this instance assume the Piano channel has Real Track Electric Piano 912

At bar 30 you want to change the tempo and the instrument.

Select bar 30 and open Bar Settings
(F5)

Change the tempo

Open RealTracks Button

Highlight the Piano Track in the first selection box

Open the lower box for RealTracks

search and select a new RealTrack Instrument from the list. Example 2913 Electric Rhythm Guitar

Enter OK

Ok out of the windows.

Generate the Piano track for the changes to take effect.

The Result:

On playback, this 912 piano will play on bars 1-29 at 95 BPM

At Bar 30: The piano will be replaced by the electric rhythm guitar you selected and play on the Piano track.

You can do multiple changes including reverting back to the original instrument by repeating the above process from any bar.

Alternately, if you want both instrument to continue to play, open the RealTracks Picker, select Medley button and select Play all simultaneously and select your alternate instrument on this page rather than from the Bar Settings page.
