My Dad was a real character and he had a bunch of great sayings. I was thinking of some of

his well worn lines and realized this was a treasure trove of song ideas. I bounced this one off

Bud Merritt and he was able to point me in the right direction for the 2nd verse and the ending

chorus. Against his objections he gets a writing credit because without his contribution the

song would not have gone where it went. Thanks Bud, and a big thanks to Janice for her

impeccable harmony.

You Don’t Know What You’re Missing

through teary eyes he tried not to show he said Dad can we please go home

I don’t fit in with the other kids so maybe I’d be better off alone

I tried to give it my best swing and then I went and struck out again

I think that baseballs not my thing so what’s the sense in practicing

Son I only hope you’re listening
You’ve got to stand up every day
It never will be easy
when you’re trying to find your way
Don’t be sad don’t be bitter
I think that you should reconsider
I can only hope you’re listening
Cause you don’t know what you’re missing

Years later he said you won’t like this but I think I’ve had enough of it

i feel like it’s all just a waste of time and i think that I’m going to quit

I said I remember I felt that way back when I was in college

But it’s something they can’t take away that’s the most important piece of knowledge

Son I only hope you’re listening
You’ve got to stand up every day
It never will be easy
when you’re trying to find your way
Don’t be sad don’t be bitter
I think that you should reconsider
I can only hope you’re listening
Cause you don’t know what you’re missing

And when you find the right girl

Don’t mess it up and let her get away

If it had happened with your mother

We wouldn’t be standing here today

Don’t be sad don’t be bitter ff
I think that you should reconsider
I can only hope you’re listening
Cause you don’t know what you’re missing

Wow!

A beautiful and heartfelt song,

love it when the mandolin comes in

a super write, so good

you have the best harmony singer that maybe I've ever heard

Tom, it's top notch, makes me want to write about youth going by so fast

and a loving guiding hand.

Tom, Janice & Bud,

Very nice, down to earth song that is done very tastefully. Clear vocals, well balanced choice of instruments (not over populated smile ) and pro mix. Not a bit that I would change. I enjoyed it.

Amazing how much truth and wisdom can be found in sayings from old folk. They had a way of summing it up in a line or two. Nice production and contribution from Bud & Janice. Good write.

Tom and Bud,

Great collaboration on this one—heartfelt and moving write. So much that’s good about this one . . . but for me, the vocals put this one over the top. They SLAY! Harmonies in that chorus are killer, but the lead vocal is really, really strong on this—drips with emotion. Loved this one, guys.

All my best,

Tom, Januce & Bud ...

Gonna make this short and to the point. This is just so touching and heartfelt. I didn't have a good relationship with my father as I was growing up. But he did introduce me to the guitar - i guess that makes up for a lot of other stuff.

Totally loved it! I wish I had some great memories like these to think back on. Glad you did! Best to you ...

Tommy, Bud, and Janice, this is exactly what commercial radio should be playing. Everything about this is top shelf and air play ready.

Excellent song that you three should be very proud of.

Really beautiful and sweet ballad!
I entirely agree with floyd.
A beautiful write! Sincere, heartfelt, meaningful.
Wonderful vocals. Beautiful harmonies.
Everything is just as it should be. A hallmark of Tom Adams offerings...
Enjoyed my listen a lot.

Best regards.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
