I have an "slow ballad" STYLE selected for a song and want to double tempo on, say, bar 45. I tried to make it with the "EDIT SETTING FOR CURRENT BAR" (F5) but BIAB play ALL the song with the tempo DOUBLED, from the very beginning. "Send Patch Changes with Stlye Change" is disabled in F5 window. I need to start the song on slow ballad tempo and then, in bar 45, double this tempo wih the same STYLE. I does not work, (al least in my case)
PLEASE HELP. THANKS in advance

I think you need to edit the setting for bar 1 (or the start of the chorus or wherever you want the double speed to end) to set the "normal" slow speed. Otherwise it just keeps on playing at the doubled speed until the end.
Am I interpreting your post correctly to mean that you want to start the song with a tempo at around 60 beats per minute and then at bar 45 you want to change the tempo to 120 beats per minute?
Then at some bar a little further in the song, you want the song to revert back to 60 beats per minute.
If so, to do this...
1. set the original tempo of 60 in the BPM settings (image below)
2. now right-click on bar 45 and select "Bar Settings"
3. in the dialogue window, check that the changes are being applied to bar 45 (the image shows bar 13)
4. set "Tempo change to" 120
5. now right-click on the bar where you'd like the tempo to slow down again and set the "Tempo change to" to 60
Hope this helps, Noel
P.S. If your BIAB view is different from mine, use CTRL+T to change views
My english is not too good to write well what I want to mean. Sorry.
In general terms, yes, I want to start a song at, say, 60bpm and then at bar, say, 45 i want to double the feeling to double time ( as usual in jazz improvisations, some choruses are played at double tempo "swinging" )
What I want it to use the BIAB existing feature to double tempo for any STYLE (style can be loaded at half, double and normal tempo) but no set a new (doubled) tempo in the main TEMPO setting, I think that it is not the same result. I believe that it more natural to make the STYLE feeling to double speed. I am not sure.
The feature exists in BIAB but it seem not to work properly.
Thans a lot for helping.

would setting the tempo at the change bar to 100% be better? This would allow the starting tempo to be changed and the revised tempo to adjust automatically
BIAB for Windows Version 2019 (643) Windows 10 (1909)
Several possibilities here starting with is this a Real Style (all Real Tracks) or a midi style (all midi tracks). Most Real Tracks will not play at double speed but some will. Midi is no problem, you can change midi tracks to any tempo at any time.
What I do is change styles as well as change tempo. Slow styles play best at slow tempos while fast styles will sound better at faster tempos. Also, many jazz songs use a latin feel for one part and a swing feel for other parts. Hit F5 and look at Bar Settings, you'll see style as well as tempo changes. If you want slow speed from bars 1-16 then double speed from bars 17-32 then back to slow at bar 33 use a slow style and set the tempo for the song itself then hit F5 and pick a fast style and set the tempo at bar 17 then back to a slow style/tempo at bar 33 and so on and forget trying to get one style to do both.
Now what else can you do here? You can use completely different styles for each song section. If you're talking swing there are dozens of slow/medium/fast styles to use.
To take this one step further you should also check out Real Band. In RB you can change styles for each instrument part or even part of one track and RB has 48 tracks to play with not just 7.
Hello, I am trying to use the F5 "EDIT SETTINGS FOR CURRENT BAR" where you have a label saying STYLE CHANGES at THIS BAR and a button REALDRUMS to open the REALDRUMS Picker. THis windows also has (lower part) as TIMEBASE where you can select NORMAL, DOUBLE, HALF or TRIPLE TIME.
The problem is that it make the change form the very beginnig of the song and for the whole song, but noy at the bar where I have made the change.
it is very confusing.
I am using the SLOWBAL.STY Slow Ballad recomended BPM 60 for the song and what to change the REALDRUMS style to SmoothJazzBallad at double speed. It sounds OK but does not make the change at the indicated bar-It uses this double time REALDRUM sytle for the whole song.
It seems to be a software problem. I have the lastest BIAB version.
I hope you know what I mean with my basic english.
THANKS

I've created a small, song file that switches from normal time to double time and then switches back to normal time.
The song was created using the _SLOWBAL.STY.
The song has a memo explaining how I used F5 settings to switch tempo.
I have placed the song file and an audio file of the song online. It is available +++ HERE +++
If this doesn't help you then please create a SGU song file that has the problem. Then upload the song file to a cloud based storage location like Google Drive, DropBox, Box or 4Square. Finally post a link to the song file here.
That will let us see the problem you are experiencing and we will be able to offer better suggestions.
Hi Jim, thank you for the help. I see that the only way to make this tempo change is by using your procedure but not by using Style changes with DOUBLE, HALF, etc changes.
Your workaround helps, but it is NOT exactly what the BIAB features and options available suggest which offers more posibilities.
Please find attached the files WITH and WITHOUT Style tempo changes. I dont know how to place the images directly in the post.
Hello, I have just try to make the tempo change as indicated by several of you but this does NOT work. It sound too forced. The bass for example, play too many notes, even if set to SIMPLE.
There are multiple ways to make the tempo change sound less abrupt. So I can be more specific I will use the tempo changes used in my example song file. The example song file has a tempo map of 60 bpm from bars 1 to 16, tempo of 120 bpm from bars 17 to 24 and tempo of 60 bpm from bar 25 to the end.
One way is to place a shot as the first, and only, chord on bars 16 and 24. However for shots to work help says "RealTracks will play shots, holds and pushes when (1) the "Allow Shots, Holds and Pushes" option is enabled in song settings; (2) the Shots, Holds and Pushes files are installed and (3) the RealTracks Picker has a number in the "Holds" column for each RealTracks used in the song. In the song file RealTracks 732 and 742 are used and each has a number in the RealTracks Picker "Holds" column. The chord used in bar 16 and bar 24 will be "Em..".
Another way is to use the "F5 Tempo % Change" over several bars to vary the tempo some prior to each abrupt tempo change.
Hi Dave, Thanks but I do not understand well what you suggest. I start the tempo at 100% with a slow ballad style. And I want to change the feel to a swinging double tempo at bar , say, 20. Cheers

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type.
