I suddenly cannot save volumes and pan in the mixer with songs. I updated to build 625 and reset to factory defaults several times. The only fix is to disable saving volumes etc in the environment options in preferences. If unchecked, all songs revert to 90 and are panned to center. If checked all volumes revert to 0 and pan -63??
It is odd that I've not experienced this. Once I am satisfied with the tracka, I freeze the tracks and save the SGU/MGU. When exporting to WAV, all the panning and effects are present in the WAV files.

I've had the issue before 2019 release. Not since the new release. Maybe, I AM just lucky. I've had to do very little mixing when collaborating with others who add vocals to my tracks. The only thing I've changed to the tracks generated by BIAB is volume to get the right balance between vocals and the instrumental arrangement.

If you're using MIDI open Preferences with Ctrl + E and select the "MIDI Options" button. In the MIDI Options window make sure all the boxes on the right side of the window are checked except for "Drum Bank Changes". Most drum bank changes are not GM or GM2 compatible. See the top screen shot.
Now press the "Overrides" button. In the "Global Song Override" window make sure all the boxes for "Allow Songs to load settings for:" are checked. See the second screen shot.
Finally, when you're saving the song project make sure you use "Alt + F2" or "Files" > "Save Special .." > "Save Song With Patches & Harmony". See the bottom screen shot.
Regarding "allow volume changes": This has been discussed multiple times in the past. The phrase "allow volume changes" is confusing because it doesn't allow you (the user) to change the volume, but allows the style definition to change the volume to whatever is defined in the style. So when you change the volume manually, then regenerate, it reverts back to whatever volumes are defined by the style. You need to uncheck the box to ensure your volume settings stick. There is a global override setting (don't remember where it is off the top of my head) that says to basically ignore whatever volume is set in the style file itself (which is where the checkbox is also found) and use the volume settings you specified. However, the global override (as I understand it) is local to your machine only. So if you have two computers, one set and the other not, you are going to get different results when you load the file. I don't know if the global override affects the saving of files or not.
In general, all the PGMusic styles should have this box unchecked for their styles, although in the past, a few of them slipped through the cracks. Also, I have found many of the Norton styles also has this box checked, as well. I can't recall if Bob Norton has changed this on later styles (it took me awhile to figure out why the Norton styles in general were louder than PGMusic styles and ultimately found they used a different setting).
Don't know if this is the problem, but definitely something to look at. Another thing to look at as well is if you have "normalize volume" checked. This affects the relative volume of each track as defined by your setting; however, depending on where you set it, you may find certain tracks will hit the ceiling of 127 (in the range 0-127).
Don't know if this will help you or not.

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
