Hi all, Here's another collaboration with Ray and Misha.
[Link no longer valid]
Singing : Misha Lyrics : Ray Cochrane Music : Christian Devienne
Pulling sheets of rain So snuggly up around my chin A blanket of snow All there is to keep the warmth in
There is nothing true but all that in which you believe There is nothing real but what you willingly conceive
Pulling sheets of rain So snuggly up around my chin A blanket of snow All there is to keep the warmth in
So again we sail In a mist of our devising No way through is known Not without your compromising
Pulling sheets of rain So snuggly up around my chin A blanket of snow All there is to keep the warmth in
There is nothing true but all that in which you believe There is nothing real but what you willingly conceive

Well done Christian and Misha - a cracking good song very well arranged and performed. The backing vocals are really well placed and I love the little ad libs that add a wonderful European flavour to the mix - something many Brits will soon miss.

It's a waaay over used term but, hey, this song is catchy! It got that stick with you after the last note and makes you want to play it again feel...so we did. Cool lyric, vocal and arrangement. The choice of the RD track and the RT's is outstanding. Dunno if it was a style or you "rolled your own" but either way it is very effective...and well mixed. Collabs are fun and this is a great example of the power of BiaB and forum members working together. Nice! J&B

Thanks Janice, Bud and Bob. For this piece, I've mixed funky drums, rockabilly acoustic bass, world acoustic guitar, bluegrass fiddles, celtic cello and folk banjo. Christian

Misha, Ray, & Chris... Great collaboration on a philosophical tune... I agree that the melody, rhythm, & lyrics make for a pretty catchy song... The rhythm seems to give the work a pleasant Romanian gypsy flavor... I really enjoyed listening your musical endeavor.

Thank you to all for mentioning my small part! I must admit, Christian had a very nice melody for this and most likely I simplified things a bit, but I am glad he agreed to try it. It was a fun, easy going project Christian, Ray thank you for the invite! Misha.

Misha / Ray / Chris,
A good collaboration.
Misha's vocal always have a way of "making you listen".
The BAND is a a very nice pairing of instruments - a good bed for presenting the lyric.
"There is nothing true but all that in which you believe There is nothing real but what you willingly conceive"
Nice.

Really nicely done - the groove on this is superb, and your vocals the progressions are top notch. A really proper mix too - it sounds really professional. Thanks for sharing

Thanks Folks, I'd had the 1st two lines in my head for a couple of years and added the 2nd pair about 12 months ago & that's allo I had. I don't write music other bombast so finding a home for that stanza was always going to be a problem. Christian's music gave me a hi8nt of Traveler/Gypsy so I threw those fantasy/myth lines in with a couple of quick-fix faux axioms to create the fairy tale and motherhood statement of folk stories after which Misha made it real. I must acknowledge that it's much easier to write when someone provides a lovely melody as the frame to hang words on.

Philosophical and folky meet. That old-world-weariness is fitting. Much enjoyed.

Chris, Misha and Ray,
Very nice gypsy jazz type feel to this one—digging the vocal on this. And the backup vocals add so much atmosphere to this in those spots it chimes in. What a great feel this tune has. Very well done, gents! This is deserving of a lot of listens.
All my best to each of you,
Deej

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
