Many of you know I love to use midi but for those of you who prefer Real Tracks, I have a treat...
No midi on this one...
BTW... I hope you assume the background source for this song is purely fictional but...
For anyone who has been there, you may end up smiling in sympathy wink ...
I hope you enjoy this one...

Lyrics:
Give Me a Second © J Hughes
Intro: 4 Bars

Chorus:
Give me a second to catch my breath
Give me a second to take a rest
Give me a second I'll do my best
To be ready to go
Give me a second I need a break
Give me a second that's all I'll take
Give me a second for goodness sake
I'll be ready to go

Verse 1:
Life with you girl is like riding a whirlwind
I never know what we're gonna do
But I sure am glad I've got you for a girlfriend
Cause life is much more fun when I'm with you

Chorus:
Middle: 4 Bars

Verse 2:
When I'm with you it's like driving a race car
And I don't know how its gonna end
Guess I'll hold on tight and hope I find the brakes for
This young cow girl who takes me for a spin

Chorus:

Jim,

Really like the intro—and the chorus is catchy, with a subtle but sweet harmony there. There something Beach Boy reminiscent about this one—an inviting listen. Nice job on this!

BTW, I don’t think I’ve ever used MIDI or even quite know what that is . . . but you did just fine with the Real Tracks.

All the best,

Deej

Jim,
Ahhh those real tracks! Very cool, clever and happy tune! Every time I listen to one of yours, it plays in my head for quite some time after I leave my computer alone smile

Jim, I like midi too smile I usually try to use a combination of Midi and Real tracks.

Thank you for sharing!

Misha.

Hi Jim ...

Love it! Catchy and fun. I strongly prefer Real Tracks - bit I sometimes blend a midi bass or drums with Real tracks - strings, too.

Loved the listen ... soothing and laid back, yet captivating. Wishing you the very best

Very catchy melody! And fun lyrics too, I like the verse with the racecar analogy especially, and nice chorus.

Good stuff, Jim!

Another "catchy" tune Jim!! You seem to have a knack for coming up with a chorus that sticks with the listener for a while! The track sounds great! Thanks, Torrey

Hello Jim,

I listened to your song a couple of times and liked it more and more.
In the beginning it felt a bit awkward, I think because of the midi, but that feeling quickly disappeared.
And that pedal steel guitar is fitting nicely (untill now I never used this instrument, so maybe now?)
The lyrics I liked the most. Basic and so sweet.

Nice day,
Hans

There's a Beach Boys "Pet Sounds" feel to this...a good thing, indeed, in our book!

We really like Al's comment, "soothing and laid back, yet captivating." Yep.

The nice production, write and vocal performance all contribute to the "catchy" vibe that folks have mentioned. It does stick with you!

Nice....

Jim,

Your writing style is like a lost art, they don't write em like that anymore...

I mean that as a compliment of course

catchy as all get out, could be country, could be Beach Boys

I certainly enjoyed the listen,

Kenny

Nice work on this smile As others pointed out, it's delightfully catchy and a great throwback to a classic style you don't hear much any more. I really enjoyed my listen.

Thanks for sharing!

Another good country singer, wish I could sing. The song gave me a laugh, I liked it and it did earworm me after a while. I felt there was something about the mix or production that didn't work well, it seemed quite lo-fi or something like that, but I got what you were after here and you did it well.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
