That was excellent. Strong vocal and harmonies. I liked that when you were singing about things nautical, the accordion came in, which is an instrument used often in shanties. Great connection. Yeoman work!

Thanks for sharing!

I've been to Canada's east and west coasts, as it were, but not to the interior. I imagine it's similar to the Dakotas in many ways. Thanks for the listen.

Thanks. Glad you liked it. I struggled with this one mightily.

And what a re-entry. ALL the RT's sound great. Very nice the way you weaved the fiddle in and out and we like the added cello and accordion texture.

As always the lead vocal/harmony is excellent as is the write. Janice never fails to mention the soul in your voice.

We hear this as a fine "longing" tune without being overly angst ridden...just convincing. A sweet spot to hit for sure.

Keep 'em coming!!!

J&B

Gosh, thank you. Praise from you two is music to my ears.

What? Couldn't you just go sailing in Dakota?

Lovely lyric, very visual. Really strong melody as well. The backing works, simply. I enjoyed the listen a lot.

Really beautiful song!! Love the sentiment, love the melody. As much as I appreciate what you did with it, I would like to hear it a bit slower with little or no percussion and piano as the main instrument. Wonderful song!! Glad to see you back around again Scott! Take care. Greg

Thank you for making that connection! That's exactly what I was hoping to convey with those RT's.

Yeah, family and friends were a bit shocked, but the sea was calling.

Hey, thanks for the spin and your kind words.

Great song. Superb storytelling vocals--nice resonance in your voice. I like the instrumentation with the accordion and fiddle.

This is so genuinely beautiful. The melody flows so naturally and the background tracks are just perfect as accompaniment. Love the accordion, love the fiddle interludes. I live in London, UK, and we don't have as much of this kind of music over here than I'd like, but this would never be out of place on any radio station, I'd say. Thanks for sharing - loved it.

Hi Scott,

Wow! this is good.... an absolute pleasure to listen to.

Your vocals along with the song's arrangement and production are superb. As I'm sitting here listening, I find that everything about this is very, very engaging. You've created a wonderful song.

All the best,
Noel

Thanks, Greg. I think I tried piano at some point. I decided on those shakers early on. I was going for the 'drums of Polynesia' with those toms at the second verse. Not sure I got them right, but then I opted for drums to keep the song moving.

Appreciate the listen and your feedback.

Oh, my. Thank you so much!

I don't really know what kind of music this is. I'm always at a loss when it comes to describing my original songs. Folk or Americana, I suppose, but I'll leave that to the listener. And speaking of listener, thanks again for that kind review.

Engaging? What more can songwriters hope to achieve? Thank you, Noel.

John

It takes me a long time to put a production together, even with this amazing software. So much trial and error and re-takes and edits and reference mixes and adjustments, by the time I think I'm finished I'm about ready to deep-six the whole thing. So when someone listens and thinks I got it right, well, that makes it all worthwhile. Thank you.

Very beautiful folk style song. You have a very nice voice rich and deep. A song with a lot of personal emotions and you did it very well.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
