Funk It Up 2

I started this prior to my music computer crash. Now that it is back up and running I thought I would just do a quick and dirty finish on it. This ended up basically as me jamming; I needed to have some fun after about two months of putting the computer back in running order.

BiaB style = J Brown Funky Blues

Drums = Additive drums 2 preset Funk Big Funk. Effects = Presonus Pro EQ & CLA Drums

The B3 was modified to better fit the song

Bass = Cakewalk Rapture Session - Synth- slap bas. Effect = JJ Bass mono

I played the guitar a Kramer NightRider through the StompBoard VST amp and effects.

I played the Sample Modeling saxes and the Screaming Trumpet via my wind controller.

Master effects = Presonus Pro EQ, Presonus comp and Wavearts Tube Saturation.

Constructive criticism is welcomed as is praise - hint-hint whistle grin

Have all the praise you want, haha! grin It's definitely got some serious funk to it and I very much enjoy it. Thanks for sharing it. And yes, you definitely deserve to have some fun.

And I had fun listening. Loved the frequent breaks to silence. That guitar tone was other-worldly.

The funk bass really is cool.
I reckon a few lines, early on, of the guitar uneffected would've been a good bench mark.
Impressive wind trigger work.
Is there a way of fattening the drums without them taking over?
Enjoyable listen Mario.
Fun(ky).

AD2/CLA Drums. They sure do pop! Chunky and Funky.

I take it you migrated to Studio One. Same here.

Sorry for the pc crash. Glad you're back to having fun making music:)

If it's a Mario tune it's going to be different! (understatement...) I just loved that horn staccato riff! And the wobbly guitar work was exactly what was needed for this quirky outing! Loved it.

Cheers
John

Thanx Ember. You got the praise joke. After a while I thought that I should take that line out as some may think that I am egotistical. I just put that in as a joke.

Thanx Tangmo. I just through the guitar part in very quickly after I got my computer up and running. I liked that sound so I just ran with it.

Thanx Ray. The guitar suggestion is a good one. I just picked a sound and ran with it because I just wanted to have some fun after my computer crash.

I could probably fatten the drums but as this ended up as a quick and dirty I will leave it as is but try to remember your suggestion for future songs.

Thanx John. One asset of playing in wedding bands for years is that I had to learn a number of genres. The down side of that is that I never became a master of one. I just I'm just a utility player! Now that I have BiaB I can take those genres to extremes, plus mess with a lot of other genres. You have been warned grin

Mario,
This is very cool! Unusual and offbeat. Caught me off guard completely smile
Enjoyed this tune much!

As far as "constructive" stuff... There is a space in this composition that is just begging for some light wind like flute or ocarina or some synth solo or even second melody which could sit on the "top" of main arrangement. But hey, this is what is happened in my head when I listened.

Thank you for sharing!

Misha.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
