Hi Folks.
Here is recent collaboration with Ray C. (rayc on forum). With Ray it is almost impossible to predict where song will lead to...and I like that smile Ray came up with super lyrics (unfortunately I had to chop some things off, to make them fit) and also played bass on it. Critical thoughts are ALWAYS welcomed. Thank you for listening! Misha.

Love Will Eat Itself

Tech stuff:
Ray-Bass, lyrics
Misha-Arrangement, vocals, mix.
Some midi parts of arrangement done in vArranger
BIAB:
380:GuitarAcousticStrummingSyncopatedSugar
669:Guitar SlidebackgroundEasySouthern
906: PianoEectricRhythmSmoothCool
1577: Piano Soul60sSync
RealDrumsFukyGroovin70s
Synths of Halion. Mixed in Cakewalk.

Love will eat itself
It is the ouroboros affliction
Obtaining wholeness only from infection
Infinity defines the strength of its affection
Conceit offers others only its rejection

Love will eat itself
Passion consumes all else
Love will eat itself
Couples’ decoupling tells
Love will eat itself
Messiah metaphors
Love will eat itself
Megalomanic indoors

Love will eat itself
It’s the haughtiest damnation
sufficient inclination
Ubiquitous fascination
Pervasive regeneration

Love will eat itself
Our history repeats
Love will eat itself
In every conceit
Love without greed
Every act second guessed
Messianic metaphors
And meglomanic meat

Love will eat itself
Taking body and soul
Love burns the will like coal
Perpetual pain takes a toll
Each love blends into the one role

Hi Misha and Ray,

The very first thought I had was...

The sound of this is nothing short of sensational! Everything about this presentation made me sit up and pay attention... music, lyrics, Misha's excellent vocals, top notch arrangement, fantastic production.

I really enjoyed this one a great deal!

All the best,
Noel

Lyrically ambitious and a bit out there but you made it work. I always value creativity, lyrics are as important as any other aspect of the song, IMHO. You kept my interest musically and lyrically.

Be fair Misha,
I just keep dribbling words and you hive off the stuff that's half decent before finally telling me when it's time to stop.
THEN you blend the words in your mouth to make melodies performed with great expression AS WELL AS making a musical bed all of that can recline upon.
Played bass should probably be played around with a bass for a bit!
I think you've made a cracker tune mate. Something some smart producer/record company or "artiste" should snap up.

Cheers

Hi Misha and Ray,

You did a good job together with this song. Misha, your voice is much louder here than in your other song.
And somewhere in the back I heard strange noises. Then realized it was Ray 'dribbling the words' as he stated in his post above (this is a joke.
It's nice to read that BB-artist work more and more together making good songs!
Continue your collaboration, it pays off so to hear!

Very clever writing! And I learned another new word, needed to google "ouroboros" :P

I always like listening to your productions, you always do something interesting. Love the slide guitar, the way you just bring it in when needed to add the fills. Nice hearing the live bass in there too.

Very nice Misha and Ray, I'm on my second listen as I type this.

Misha and Ray. What creative souls you both are! The backtrack of this one is simply astounding! The ambience created by that guitar is wonderful! Your vocals are great again, I always enjoy them! Loved that little thing at the end with the laughter! Great work! Thanks, Torrey

Noel,
Those are BIG words smile Thank you very much for listening and very encouraging comments!
--------------
Ember,
Thank you!
--------------
Tangmo,
Thank you for your time and cool comment!
--------------
TuneMonger,
Thank you for listening! Rays lyrics were challenging on this one for me too I took quite a few takes to get them right and then it just snapped together and fit like a puzzle smile
--------------

Ray,
You know that is not true. I would never done this without your lyrics and help. I mean, I would still write, but it would be half the strength smile Thank you!
--------------
Hans,
Thank you for giving this your ears! I hope Ray is not mad about your joke smile You are right about loud vocals, I should try to mix this more a bit.
--------------
Dave, I had to google ouroboros too smile
Thank you for listening and excellent comments!
-------------
Bob,
Thank you! I appreciate your comments!
-------------
Torrey,
Thank you for listening and for extra nice comments! Lucky for me, Ray was not too hard on me for twisting his lyrics a bit, so it was a pressure free project.
------------
Janne,
thank you for stopping and for nice words! Initially it was supposed to be a pop tune....It took slight turn smile
------------
Christian,
Thank you for listening and positive thoughts!
------------
Jim,
Thank you for giving this time and nice comment! Video...Ohh boy...Ray is in trouble smile !
------------
Will,
Your comments made me crave for cold champagne smile If I remember correctly the last words/wish of dying Russian writer Anton Chekhov was asking for champagne. I think it was very poetic smile Thank you for listening!

Misha.

Sad but quite true...

As we commented at SC, "Full of mystique and sonic goodness!"

Nothing sounds "out of place" - everything works well together toward enhancing the mystique of the lyric, melody and the whole band groove.

And, hey, one does not hear "ouroboros" very often...particularly in a song!

Well done in write, arrangement and performances.

Hi Misha,

I think I was too vague with what I said about your louder voice.
I appreciated that louder sound. It was not at all a complain.

And I think Ray is already mad at me. You're too late I'm afraid...

Hans

You guys are one of the best (and quirkiest!) collaboration teams I`ve heard on this forum.
Lots going on behind that unique vocal- it all meshes well to these ears.
Take this as a passing thought,please...at some point I wanted the rhythm section to be funkier, or edgier ( a la Talking Heads).
Strange is good done the RayC/Misha way!

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
