If double negatives were not allowed in song writing?

Huh....(while rubbing chin with chording hand and a pensive look on my face)

You got me thinking and I had to google the accurate definition to refresh (what's left of) my memory.
If I become irrationally compelled to look through all my song drivel to see if I'm guilty I'm blaming you. smile

Back to it.....

Hahaha!

Imagine a song world where there would be no "Don't come around here no more" or "Ain't Nothing Like the Real Thing" or "Ain't Wastin' Time No More" or "She didn't say nothing at all" or "We Don’t Need No Education" or "Ain't No Sunshine" or "Ain't No Mountain High Enough " or "I can't get no satisfaction" or "Don't Cry No Tears" and such permutations on and on...

A large percentage of rock, pop, country and nearly all blues would be toast smile

It never occurred to me that double negatives were so prevalent. We're taught not to use them in every day speech but it seems to make some really good zingers for lyrics.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

What we do if double negatives weren't allowed in everyday speech? We wouldn't say nothing at times.

It seems to me that in the English language, there are many times where a double negative doesn't really mean a positive, but instead intensifies the negative. Of course this makes it very confusing for people learning English as a second language.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
