Hi All,

Here's something new - this is called The One.

You know I need the rain today
Gonna cleanse my blues away
Give it slow and get it done
Hey now girl
Am I the one

I can't watch the news today
Gonna turn it off turn it away
Give it light under the sun
Hey now girl
Am I the one

We don't hold more than today
Gonna push our cares away
Give them chase and make them run
Hey now girl
Am I the one

You know I need the rain today
Gonna cleanse my blues away
Give it slow and get it done
Hey now girl
Am I the one

Give it slow and get it done
Hey now girl
Am I the one
Give it slow and get it done
Hey now girl
Am I the one

Bob,
Nice catchy tune! A good reminder to take time out from all the depressing stuff in the news.
A bit more bassy than some previous tunes I have heard, but I like it, it is not overwhelming, just the right amount. That sweet pedal steel takes this to another level.

Thank you for sharing!

Misha.

Another great opening lyric! Your chorus is memorable both musically and lyrically. "Hey now girl am I the one" is a phrase that many can identify with. Good song!

A tale of two mind sets living side by side - modern life.
The snare snap really propels this song.
I'l not sure how the boomy bass would translate through a living room stereo but it works well enough through head phones.

Hi Bob,

This is a real sweet song. You build a kind of tension with your specific voice. When I expected you to go 'loose', say after 2/3-rd of the song, you didn't! You keep singing the same way as from the start. That enhances the melancholic effect in this song. I noticed you do that in more of your songs. That I like about your style.
The steel guitar is not -yet- one of my favorite instruments (must be my origin), but it fits in very nice.

Bye,
Hans

Very cool intro. Steel was a really nice touch. Loved the acoustic. Super vocal and lyric and loved the way you phrased the lyrics gave the song a very cool feel to it..

Bob,

Excellent write.

Your vocal in this is well done. Well sung, well recorded, well mixed.

The BAND sounds great - good arrangement/production, nice build...good mix throughout. Drums and bass sound great. Acoustic is crisp and clean/clear. Excellent use of the steel.

Awesome.

(And you are doing terrific "album covers" for your songs, too!)

man, you use the pedal steel to great effect in this song

sounds so good,

You know I need the rain today
Gonna cleanse my blues away

love these lines

you're in a very prolific phase and writing some of the best

(as best that I remember) songs

I like what Ray had to say "a tale of two mindsets"

a good description

I think that you've created a great sound and genre for yourself.

Always a fan,

Kenny

Yeah, I think so. This rests easily on my shoulders, singing in my ear. Both lyric and delivery so intimate it almost makes me blush. Steel is outstanding.
Very, very nice.

Hi Bob,

Very nice song and lyrics indeed! Listening to your song brought me memories of my childhood where songs like "Seasons In The Sun" and "Rhinestone Cowboy" were radio-hits.

Very well done!
Will

Hi Bob,

This is a fantastic listen. I love the arrangement. Your use of the pedal steel is a masterstroke. It's a perfect fit and, as others have already said, it lifts the whole presentation to another level.

Everything about this immediately identifiable as "Robert Dean" and it sound so very, very, very good! It's infectiously catchy!

I really enjoyed this journey.

All the best,
Noel

Bob, I was only 30 seconds in and said this is my new favorite of yours. Loved that infectious beat you applied to this. Everything just flows perfectly! Thanks, Torrey

Nice, moody tune, maybe not as much imagery as the three others I've heard from you, but still your sound, which is a good sound. I didn't hear too much bass, but the drums surprised me. Maybe it was the quick beat. Still, as I said, very much your unique thing going on, which I find draws me in every time.

You has me right from the opening lines:

"You know I need the rain today
Gonna cleanse my blues away"

Great signature vocal as always, and love the fadeout ending with the steel.

You are on a roll, Bob!

User Tip: How to add drum fills without changing any other tracks

MarioD has shared some great advice when it comes to adding drum fills without changing any other tracks in your song:

There have been a number of questions asking how to add drum fills without changing any other tracks in a song. This is especially important if one is holding a chord for a few measures and wants to add a drum fill prior to the next chord. The following is how to accomplish that:

1-get the instruments/tracks to play like you want but don't worry about the drums for now.
2-generate the song.
3-freeze all tracks
4-unfreeze the drum track
5-add your fills where you want them
6-generated the song again - note this will only generate the drum track and not the frozen tracks
7- when you get the drums like you want them freeze the track
