Schönen guten Morgen! Ich habe mein steinaltes BiaB 8 aus WIN 95 Zeiten  endlich mal auf den neuesten Stand gebracht und mir das 2019 MegaPAK geholt. Jetzt habe ich Probleme mit der richtigen Einrichtung des (virtuellen) Klangerzeugers. Ich habe es zwar geschafft, Halion Sonic SE in der VST Abteilung zu aktivieren, wenn ich aber einen Style vorhöre, kommt noch der Windows Wavetable Sound aus den PC Speakern. Lade ich diesen Style, wird Halion richtig angesteuert. Wie und wo muss man denn das mitgelieferte Sforzando anwählen, damit es als globaler Klangerzeuger dient? Oder klingt es generell besser, wenn ich mir meinen alten Roland JV1080 wieder zulege? Generell würde ich für den Anfang gerne GM Sounds benutzen, damit die Soundzuordnung in BIAB stimmt. Die Real Bands interessieren mich momentan gar nicht so sehr, weil ich die BiaB Songs in Cubase gerne als MIDI Dateien bearbeiten möchte. Schöne Grüße Stephan

Hallo Stephan, willkommen im Forum! Eine gute Idee, dein altes BiaB auf den aktuellen Stand zu hieven. Damit hast du ja nun auch die Möglichkeit, Styles mit Realtracks einzusetzen. Probier das mal aus, das ist wirklich musikalisch noch einmal etwas ganz anderes als MIDI, selbst mit einer guten MIDI-Soundengine. Zu deiner Frage: Wenn du im StylePicker den kleinen Abspielknopf für das Vorhören anwählst, wird bei beiden Stylearten (MIDI, Realtrack) nichts neu gerendert oder per MIDI erzeugt, sondern sofort ein kurzer Soundschnipsel abgespielt, das sind WMA-Audiodateien, die von PGMusic vorgesampelt wurden. Du hörst also weder dein Halion Sonic noch Windows-Wavetable-Sound, sondern die vorgefertigten Demos. Siehe auch Handbuch Seite 87: "Die Demos befinden sich auf zwei möglichen Speicherorten: 1. Auf der Festplatte, im Data\Style Demos Audio Ordner Ihrer RealTracks Ordner (gewöhnlich C:\bb\RealTracks\Data\Style Demos Audio (einige der Demos sind auf der Festplatte, um Speicherplatz zu sparen, sind nicht alle installiert). 2. und im Internet, unter www.pgmusic.com (alle Demos befinden sich hier). Wenn Sie das Demo eines Style aufrufen, wird das Programm die Version, die sich auf der Festplatte befindet wiedergeben, andernfalls wird die Wiedergabe aus dem Internet erfolgen."

Hallo Brille und vielen Dank.
Das mit den Soundschnipseln wusste ich (wie so vieles bei dem Programm) nicht.
Ich muss zugeben, dass sich mir Biab auch nach vielen Jahren nicht erschlossen hat.
Dadurch, dass es so wahnsinnig mit buttons vollgestopft ist, fand ich es nie so besonders intuitiv.
Jetzt will ich aber dabei bleiben.
Bis vor einigen Jahren habe ich anderen Menschen Cubase beigebracht und weiss, dass keine Lernmethode effektiver ist, als vom Lehrer zu lernen. Gibt es gute Videokurse, die du empfehlen kannst? Deutsch/Englisch ist egal.
Auf der Pg Homepage finde ich es etwas mühsam, die Videoschnippel zusammen zu suchen, mir wäre ein kompletter Kurs wesentlich lieber.

Hallo Stephan.
Du hast natürlich vollkommen Recht: Band in a Box ist über die Jahre ein Riesenschweizermesser geworden und weil der Funktionsumfang so morphisch gewachsen ist, ist auch das Handbuch zum Programm eher ein stets ergänztes Nachschlagewerk, als ein didaktisch strukturiertes Tutorial. Leider gibt es weder in Deutsch noch in Englisch Sekundärliteratur zum Programm. Ich habe mich mit Peter Gannon mal persönlich darüber unterhalten, weil ich darüber nachdachte, so eine Art How-To-Buch zu verfassen. Ich habe verschiedene Ansätze geprüft und dann aber alles auf später verschoben, weil es schnell wirklich sehr umfangreich und aufwändig würde – und zudem ja auch laufend Neues dazukäme. Knifflig also, vielleicht, wenn ich mal irgendwann Rentner bin ;-) Ohnehin lesen immer weniger Leute (und kaufen dann) Bücher.
Einige ganz gute Einstiegsvideos gibt es von Forumsmitglied Mossite alias Simplysax in Deutsch auf Youtube – allerdings sind die schon mehr als 5 Jahre alt – also auch nicht wirklich aktuell. Die englischen Tutorials hier bei PGMusic auf der Webseite sind an sich ganz ok und werden auch Stück für Stück mal auf die neuen Programmversionen aktualisiert. Aber sie beschreiben vor allem einzelne Funktionen und sind eher weniger Schritt-für Schritt aufeinander aufbauende Anleitungen.
Außerdem bietet Wolfgang Wierzyk in Berlin und von Zeit zu Zeit auf der Burg Fürsteneck Band in a Box-Einstiegskurse an – nebenbei jetzt auch gerade wieder am kommenden Wochenende 22.-24. Mai 2019. Der Kursrahmen richtet sich aber eher an Einsteiger, wirklich Tiefgang darfst du nicht erwarten.
Letztlich bleiben tatsächlich nur diese Quellen und hier natürlich das Forum.

Guten Morgen Brille. Vielen Dank für deine ausführlichen Antworten. Ich selbst bin ja seit einiger Zeit (eher unfreiwillig) Rentner, von daher hab ich dir zumindest den Freizeitanteil voraus  Die YT Videos habe ich gefunden und schon einige Dinge gelernt. Jetzt habe ich schon ein Paar grundsätzliche Fragen, die aber nichts mit dem Eröffnungsthema dieses Beitrages zu tun haben. Ich würde deshalb gerne mal einen neuen Beitrag erstellen.
