I've become quite familiar with using RealBand. I like being able to add real track and band in the box tracks to accompany myself singing. However, I'm not that great of a singer and I would like to try out some auto-tune software to make my voice sound better.
Is there auto-tune software out there that works well with RealBand? I will sometimes have multiple vocal tracks in a .SEQ file, with one track capturing a particular verse of the song. I would like to be able to apply the auto-tuning to the entire set of vocal tracks, to cover the entire song.
Any suggestions on what software to purchase (or if the feature is already part of RealBand)?
Thanks, Joe

Thanks, that picture was helpful. I tracked down a free pitch correction pluggin called GSnap, pointed to the DLL in the RealBand VST configuration window shown in your picture, and was able to get it to work.

GSnap is a free pitch-correction VST. I'm away from my computer, so I can't say if it works with RealBand.

Now set all the vocal tracks to a subgroup that tunes the vocals and adds any other effects, and one VST set can be on all tracks. You could also use the AUX slots, but only with a few routing defaults changed.
That covers the 'supply it to all vocal tracks' part using just one instance of the tuner. Instead of on every track.
Make your sound your own! .. I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome

Hey Solidrock, Antares just told me that their 'Access' won't work. Do you know if one of their newer ones will work with RB? Jgariano, I couldn't get Gsnap to do much- seemed to go from nothing to some correction with artifacts? Thanks guys!

Warren,
It will be difficult to find a real time vocal processor. Antares made multiple hardware processing units but has abandoned hardware manufacturing. The Antares software products are AAX and VST3 plug-ins. RealBand does not support either plug-in format.
My suggestion is to search online (forums, music stores, Craiglist and eBay) for a used Antares hardware vocal processor.
As an aside, SolidRock was last on the forum Sun Dec 06 2015 at 02:58 PM.

Hey Jim, Forgive my ignorance here- so until RB would support VST3 (if ever?), it's a no go. When you speak of real-time hardware, are we meaning a unit between the mic and the audio interface that would pitch correct at the time of recording? Thanks! I do have a TC Helicon VoiceLive Play with this feature, though I believe it has limited controls.
Best, Warren

Hi Warren, TC Helicon vocal products are exactly what I meant. I would think your TC Helicon VoiceLive Play would be more than sufficient to meet your pitch correction needs while playing live. Personally I doubt if you can find anything better than what you already have. You likely have what you need but need to dig a little deeper and become more familiar with the equipment and what it has to offer. I don't have a VoiceLive Play and don't play in front of an audience so I can't imagine what controls you find limited. Is it just with pitch correction or with some of the additional features you haven't mentioned? If you're main concern is pitch correction do you find all the other features the TC Helicon VoiceLive offers get in the way of using the tool the way you envision? Assuming pitch correction is the primary feature you're wanting, you may find the TC Helicon +++ Mic Mechanic Stomp Box +++ easier to carry around and use.

Hey Jim, Now of course, my post was aimed at recording only, so I'd love to haev a working plugin with RB that's up to the task, but the TCH VLP is a wonderful pedal with lots of great effects for my saxes/flute and it does also offer soft and hard-tune. Thanks!

Solidrock, etc., Do we know what it was about the Antares Evo that DID work with RB, that's different from their new ones that don't- VST3? Thanks!

Hi Warren, As you guessed, the newer stuff is available only as a VST3 which does not work with RealBand. The Aspire EVO is available as both VST2 and VST3 as well as 32 or 64 bit. RealBand requires 32 bit. This quote is from the Anteres webpage for the EVO plugin: Quite simply, ASPIRE EVO analyzes a vocal in real time and separates the aspiration noise (breathiness) component from the harmonic content. It then allows you to either increase or decrease the amount of aspiration noise, as well as letting you affect the character of the aspiration noise by applying a parametric EQ to the noise component. +++ HERE +++ is a link to the Antares Evo webpage. The initial plugin download is 64 bit but a 32 bit version is available for a $7.99 additional cost. The plugin is available as a VST2 so the 32 bit, VST2 version should work with RealBand. Aspire EVO requires ilok copyright protection. So you'll either have to purchase an ilok dongle and lose use of a USB port to the ilok dongle or you'll have to install additional ilok software to manage your ilok protected applications.

Your issue maybe a graphics setting. Try changing your display setting to a different resolution. Another possibility is Gsnap maybe a 32 bit plugin while RealBand is 64 bit. I visited the Gsnap website +++ GVST +++. The developer does not state if his plugins are 32 or 64 bit. That leads me to believe the plugins are 32 bit.

Dear Jim, thank you very much for your quick reply. I have a maximum display resolution of 1366x768 and by lowering this , didn't solve the issue. For downloading GSnap I used another link : GVST.co.uk/downloads.htm, beside other effects, click on GSnap ( pitch correction) and from hereon you are able to choose 32 or 64 bit ( I choose 64 bit for my windows 64 bit, but didn't work ; I tried also 32 bit, but software refuses to work at all ) I also send an email to the maker of GSnap and waiting for reply
thanks again for your hints and time kind regards, Jay Twostone music at:https://jaytwostone.com/

Jay, Thanks for the update. By-the-way, nice website. I like your song about the rooster! You might want to consider the +++ Waves Tune +++ vocal pitch correction plugin. It is on sale at the moment for $35.99.

Dear Jim,
i could make GSnap work first, by selecting the area on the vocal track and secondly selecting GSnap from the effects list Without the buttons under the main and info , a new pop-up menu appears titled: DirectX Non-Real-Time processing with Preview ,Stop ,Cancel and Process buttons With the settings on the GSnap you can listen with preview how it will sound like and if oke, press process and the "Snap" will be done.
Thank you again for the reply: problem solved. By the way, Racy Old Rooster took me about 30 years to write, with the afterlife just 2 years ago: glad you like it. I now try to do as much as possible on my own ( no money, no honey) That's why BIAB + Realband + vocal recording + mixing +mastering: I started in march, but still much to go
kind regards, jay twostone

Glad you got it sorted out. If GSnap is using an older version of Direct X that is not on your computer, Microsoft has a +++ download webpage +++ that installs older versions of Direct X without removing any Direct X installers your computer does have.

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!
Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!
For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.
Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!
Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
