LYRICS:

We are people, too,
You know ...
Black or white or brown
Or so ...

Of whatever shade
Or hue
We are people, too ...
It's true.

We are kindred souls
You know ...
Let us close on wars
The door ...

Let us hate agree
To cease
Let us try again
For peace.

It's hard to live when people hate
And all they do is retaliate
With mindless anger at all we do ...
You know, my friend, we're people, too ...

You can't desire a world the same!
Why would you want that - it'd be lame!
We're all the same, yet different,
We all have unique talent

Me, I write and sing my song
If you agree, please clap along:
United we must be in diversity
United we must be if we wanna live.

We are people, too,
You know ...
Black or white or brown
Or so ...

Of whatever shade
Or hue
We are people, too ...
It's true.

This world is craving unity,
The people shaking hands for all to see,
Refusing to fight no more
Letting, instead, our spirits soar ...

Love Mother Earth, foremost and first,
Love Father Sun, who gives us warmth,
Love all creation as thyself
No more, no less ... and you shall delve

Into the mystery of happiness
And joy of life you shall possess,
Love everyone, and what is more
Love yourself, friend, forever so!

[BRIDGE]

Remember: but for God's own grace
It isn't YOU, that broken face
That you would want so much to hate ...
Oh, trust me, it's not too late

To put down swords and dance instead
To songs of joy that emanate
From all our hearts, whether we're white,
Or black, or brown ... we'll be alright.

So come on, friend, and sing with glee
This song I write for you and me
Let's stop the fights and love instead
All who we are ... and life won't be so bad.

You've created a nice combination of singing & recitation to get across your message of peace...
It reminded me of the works of an American singer/songwriter who went by the name of Luke the Drifter...
He often combined recitations & singing within the same song to get across his messages.
Good job on this one!

Jim: Thank you! The comparison with Luke the Drifter is certainly very flattering for me! :-) Thanks so much for listening and commenting!

Joe: Thanks! I wasn't too sure about the mix (specifically about the way my spoken word voice sections sound), so it's good to know I found the right "recipe", eventually :-)

David: Thank you! I think I'll just use Audiomack and certainly Bandcamp for the foreseeable future - I'd get confused with all the multiple Soundcloud accounts, otherwise, haha ;-) But thanks for listening - much appreciated!!!

Thanks all so much for taking the time to listen and comment!

Nicely done - love the groove, and your switch up from the usual vocal delivery went over nicely too smile Flows smoothly and the lyrics as always hit really hard.

Great work - thanks for sharing!

I think Jim's correct - some sustain or a pad that gives that impression would be excellent to smooth the melody and better suit the backing.
Nice melody.

Cheers

Hi James,

It's your lyrics I like. They str a bit black, but there is a way...
I agree with some others that maybe it is better to 'glue' your voice somewhat more in your mix.
That brings more cohesion between vocals and instruments.

Joe: haha, thank you :-)

Hans: how do you mean, "glue"? Remember, I know NOTHING about production - though I'm learning as fast as I can :-) Thanks for any explanation!

Hi James,

With glueing I mean that your voice and the instruments must be more connected. Now your voice is very close to the microfone and the instruments sounded a bit to soft. So maybe you take some more distance from that mike or make the instruments sound louder. But all is small proportions.

And in my first sentence in my post some words were cut out. I think that's when I checked them with the Google-translator. I think I wanted to write they are black, but you gave a direction as well (there is a way...).
But I'm not sure what I meant with that 'str'. Must be something nice!

Hans

Hans: aha, thank you. You're not the first to mention balance issues, so I will take another listen (with that in mind) as soon as I get a chance to sit down calmly with it! :-) . Thanks also for your kind words re: lyrics. They seem to have somehow come together for this particular track, it seems.

Ember: Thank you - it's so nice to hear words of encouragement such as yours - really does help.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
