It's been raining, and my lame Internet connection (DSL - Lite) got worse so I can't enjoy the video. It's the price of living in almost paradise.
I used to have an Atari/ST and wrote my first Band-in-a-Box style disks on it in 1992. Then one day Peter Gannon called and offered to convert them to IBM format (now PC) - Thanks Peter - and as they sold a PC and a Mac Classic II followed.
The Atari was a good machine for its day, and I ran Master Tracks Pro on it.
Good find Mike. I ran C-Lab's Notator software on mine for many years. It did a massive amount of work. Never had an issue. And I used MIDI timecode with other sequencers. It was a good system.

I still have some Atari floppy disks somewhere. If anybody needs some, I'll see if I can find them. I can't guarantee they aren't corrupted though, time takes its toll on magnetic media.
Thanx for the flashback! I had an Atari ST 1040 and Dr. T.'s KCS Midi Sequencer. I did a lot of MIDI work on that system for many years.
It was too bad that Atari was looked at by many people as a gaming system only and not taken seriously as a real computer. Atari games were dominate back in those good ol' days and that lead to the computer confusion.

It was too bad that Atari was looked at by many people as a gaming system only and not taken seriously as a real computer. Atari games were dominate back in those good ol' days and that lead to the computer confusion.
Same case with the Commodore Amiga systems. They just happened to hit the gaming/music/video abilities long before the PC.
Back when the main way computer viruses spread was via an infected floppy disk, Atari as immune as the OS resided in ROM only. At least that is what I was led to believe.
All the competition is gone in the computer Operating Systems. We have Windows with about 95% of the market and Apple less and Linux even less than that.
In a way that's good, as there is standardization. Companies like Band-in-a-Box, Pro Tools, and others only have to make a version for one or two platforms. Actually all many companies have to do is write for Windows.
On the other hand, a monopolistic monolith has less incentive to innovate.
Anyway it is what it is and we do the best we can with what is offered.
I was thinking of dabbling in Music like I did back in the late 80s and I just dusted off my Atari ST and found my Band In the Box disk.....
It works. And I'm connecting to an old Kawai K4
And to make things really silly, I have connected my Nintendo Rock Band 3 MIDI Guitar control and playing some rythm using the Atari's MIDI IN as a THRU reaching the Kawai K4 and playing Guitar sounds along side Band In The Box's Bass and Drum accompaniment
SO HERE IS MY ISSUE: Something is happening to the guitar controller playing thru the Atari ST with Band In the Box....there is some funky noise when I strum all the strings....like an unwanted load percussion or orchestra note
Man, if you put me in a room full of old equipment like this I'd be like a kid in a candy store.
FastEddie007 - unfortunately, that's going to be really tricky to troubleshoot. The Atari ST is more than a handful of years older than I am. I've never even seen one in in person, let alone used one
It doesn't surprise me that a piece of hardware that old would have issues getting along with a modern piece of software though. Hopefully others have suggestions!

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
