Slow It Down

Sometimes I think it might be time to slow it down
Feeling kind of dizzy on this merry-go-round
Doctor’s telling me I might be too tightly wound
Couldn’t hurt to stop and have a look around

Take it down a notch
Switch off my phone and throw away my watch
Take it down a notch
Down a notch, take it down a notch

Sometimes I think it might be time to toss it in
Every little thing these days seems to get under my skin
Everybody talking but I don’t care what they say
Might be time for me to make my get away

Take it down a notch
Switch off my phone and throw away my watch
Take it down a notch
Down a notch, take it down a notch

Might be time to listen to my heart
Might not be an ending, maybe it’s a start
Might be time to find another gear
Take it easy as we cruise on out of here

Time to slow it down
Time to slow it down
Time to slow it down
Slow it down; slow it down (etc.)

Take it down a notch
Switch off my phone and throw away my watch
Take it down a notch
Down a notch, take it down a notch

Sometimes I think it might be time to slow it down
Feeling kind of dizzy on this merry-go-round
Doctor’s telling me I might be too tightly wound
Couldn’t hurt to stop and have a look around

The change for the third verse is perfectly timed.
Nice song, all your elements worked really well and brought the BIAB components to life.
I can imagine that outro solo building and building in a live setting.
Cool stuff.

Very nice Peter and Leon!

Nice harmonics to start things off.

Always enjoy Leon's lyrics and vocal, also really like your vocal contributions on this one.

Tasteful leads and I like your tone too, a little less distortion than you normally use I think.

A good listen!

Peter & Leon,

A nice write.

Nice arrangement. The simpler middle section is a nice touch. Works well.

A really good mix. The bass is nice and punchy, with good definition. The drums are crisp and clear. The acoustic is at a good level to allow the vocals to sit where they should...

Enjoyed the listen.

Peter & Leon,

Doctor’s telling me I might be too tightly wound

I like that message and the slightly sardonic way Leon sounds singing them.A little Dylanesque to my hearing.
The strummed guitar carries the relaxed rocking feel.
Really good intro & outro accents and solo also.
Taking it down a notch is working well!

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Thanks Dave - used a fairly clean setting for the guitar. Using a Line 6 Helix these days.

Nice work on this one smile Love the progressions, and the vocals were a standout to me. A solid throwback to a classic country style. I loved the switch up on the last verse too. Kept it sounding really fresh and engaging.

Thanks for sharing!

I liked the vocals most of all, reminds me of someone, maybe Jim Seals of Seals and Crofts. Good work on the song and its production.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
