Another tune from my old friend Hans, who has again given permission for me to mess with it. This one felt quite '60's Ventures 'Surf' in character and had a Spanish style 'bridge' for good measure. _HANGTEN.STY therefore was the perfect BB Style for it, with minor substitutions. What a piece of kit is BB2019 ! My trusty budget axe, the Harley-Benton ST-62 via Zoom G3X echo delay and Joyo ACTone Vox amp sim into DAW. wow, this is awesome! You really captured the sound of the period without ripping off passages from specific songs, as is often the case with genre based projects. I like the way the guitar lies in the mix.... very pleasant and present without dominating.
Two enthusiastic thumbs up from me!

Ian / Hans Congrats, on this cool song! Excellent arrangement and playing! A good reminder that you do need expensive gear to make good music.
Thank you for posting!

If I had a surfboard and live near the sea this tune would encourage me to surf. Great throwback tune to days gone by. Really enjoyed this. Rob

Progression and play are kings here. Really strong. That middle section is such a nice change-up too. So much musical interest packed into a radio-friendly time, down to the "out". I really enjoyed this.

Love it! I was a big fan the shadows (and the ventures) back in the day.
You and Hans have certainly nailed that classic sound while producing something totally original, very well done!

Hi guys - being a Brit and living in the centre of England, Surfing doesn't come naturally.lol. When I first heard Hans’ solo demo I knew that BB would come up with the goods for the BT. So right. The tune fitted right in. Thank you for all the kind comments. Ian

What a tune! I never would've thought that surfing music and Spanish music would fit together this well. I've been proven wrong - it simultaneously makes me think of big California beaches, and of old western movies. I'm conflicted - but really enjoyed the tune none the less. You should be proud of this one - thanks for sharing
Cheers, Deryk

Reminds me (Bud) of my VW Beetle with a surf board on top....really. Even had the bleached hair to go with it. This is very well performed and produced. Thanks for the journey back...although this is more classy sounding than most of the period stuff Great! J&B

I have a Joyo ACTone and love it. I usually send that signal to a clean tube amp for a little more sweetness but that's a matter of taste and availability. Alternately using the non balanced out put and using a good vox cab impulse does just as well. I've often pondered buying an HB guitar (an RB12 mainly) - the quality & price are both great BUT the shipping to Downunder is prohibitive.
That is a fun, fun track. The backing is spot on as it supported the star - the guitar. You did a fabulous job. Did you use a "spring reverb" effect or something different?

Hi Deryk - somehow the two types of music work well with this. Hi Don - that would indeed be marvelous!! Hi Janice and Bud - glad it brought back memories. I would bleach MY hair - if I had any. Hi Davis - thank you for your kind comments. Hi Rayc - My chain is very "analogue! - Guitar - Echo unit - Joyo then straight into the DAW. The H-B really is a great guitar. Bought to take the strain off my hand-built Strat, I find I use it more and more. No spring reverb. There IS a pre-installed patch for it in the echo unit but I used a pre-set one that is a specific echo pattern that also has some reverb dialled in to it. Ian

That ain't no bull man..... This was a pleasant surprise. Nice clean sound and man.... surf's up.
I really liked the interesting chord progressions in this. Not the normal 1 4 5.
You can find my music at: www.herbhartley.comAdd nothing that adds nothing to the music. You can make excuses or you can make progress but not both. The magic you are looking for is in the work you are avoiding.

Hj Dani - thank you so much for your very kind remarks. BTW - I tried emailing you but it bounced. Hi Herb - we're heading this weekend for what passes as Surf in the UK. Great chord progression throughout - even a bit of the 4 chord trick somewhere in there. Clever writing IMO.

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
