Hi All here is a New PopHymn Song called "Tears" of which I posted the instrumental awhile back,
The demo vocal is by Mr F Allseto a dodgy character! and I put no base Guitar in it because im getting it ready for a trio to sing and they have no base player.I didnt put drums because I felt it might make it up tempo too much. The lyrics come from a the book of Psalms 56:8,the verses from a sermon by a friend and the breakdown from a local headstone with a Spurgeon poem.Hope you enjoy .

A very unusual unique sounding composition...
I'm left wondering what effects you put on "Mr F Allseto's" vocals...
Pretty cool sounding!

Ha Ha Jim,
Mr F came out of having a very flat Irish voice and didnt have anyone to do the demo lol .So I pitched it with Nectar 2 hard over as far as it would go.It didnt sound awful and my friends will be able to follow the melody so I left it in!Invention is the mother of nessacity! Thanks for listening H

Interesting. The vocals were pretty glitchy - intentionally, I assume.

The vocals are also a bit hard to make out.

I have an inherent dislike of lo-fi. But I'm happy to make an exception in this case. I found it a interesting listen.

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Hi Hugh,

You made an interesting and daring song. Interesting for where the lyrics came from and daring for the special way it was sung.
I can follow your reason for not using percussion. That electric guitar makes the tempo and has a nice, dominant imput.
I heard parts in the song that made me wonder why this wasn't sung in a 'normal'way. The voice was good enough and has a good reach.

I can not say I like it, because of the vocals, but I've enjoyed it (as you hoped).
Using Nectar 2 can be the cause...

Hans

Thanks Hans,David
I will get someone to sing it at the pro level and it should sound professional but might lose the quirkiness pitched vocals have. The vocals shouldnt work at any level but they have a strange attractiveness to them which I think maybe down to the subject matter of the song .I left it glitchy David as it added an oddness to it.Again I will get someone to sing it but my aim was to get a demo for my friends to sing but I thought id throw it out there as it was an oddity vocals wise ,
Glad you enjoyed the listen H

I liked the melody of this song.

I found the vocals very hard to understand. The FX used ..... well, that made things worse in my opinion. It's often better to run a straight up vocal with some reverb than to try to make it sound "better" with off the wall FX. If Tom Waits can sing a song... anyone can. Well, almost anyone. I'd redo the vox track w/o the FX. If you need pitch correction, use it, but leave off the chorus and flanging and whatever else is on the vox track.

Wow - despite the heavy vocal effects and how hard they were to understand, I found it somehow fit with the nature of the song. They almost become another instrument, in a unique and strange way. A very bold and daring tune for sure, and simultaneously dizzying and attention grabbing.

Thanks for sharing smile

Hi Herb and Deryk,
Yeah totally agreeing with you Herb ,it needs a vocalist for sure.On the other hand Deryk the crazy vocal works on the quirky scale and has some draw because of the nature of the lyrics and they cryee feel to it.Its worth noting that its only a guide vocal for my friends to sing and they all hate my real voice lol but love me lol.
Glad you listened and were captivated Hugh

Well written, arranged and mix.

The vocal FX are beyond our pay grade as we use such a minimum of them.

Obviously you were aiming for something different and for that you used them to good effect.

Thanks for the info on how you constructed the lyric...fascinating.

Enjoyed it!

Well worth the listen. I'd like to hear more. It seems made for public performance, outdoor, like at a fair or concert.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
