I wrote this one when I first got Band in a Box but I've only just got around to recording it. I'm not sure if I maybe overdid some of the vocal effects in this one, I suppose it's pretty hard to use certain features subtly if you're still learning how they work!
Lyrics:
Every day you keep ringing my phone Hoping to catch me when I'm all alone Thinkin I'll miss you after all this time But being alone tops living a lie
You think that I'll be wit you But one day it'll hit you cause.
Na na na na na You think you got me Na na na na na But I've broke free Na na na na na You know you crossed the line Na na na na no Baby not this time
With each and every message you leave You explain that you've made a mistake But crying and apologies are easy for you to fake I gotta say that I have no regrets And it's time for me to move on
You think that I'll be wit you But one day it'll hit you cause.
Na na na na na You think you got me Na na na na na But I've broken free Na na na na na You know you crossed the line Na na na na no Baby not this time
For some reason I don't hate you And I hope that you're OK But when you say that you need me back I know I have to stay away
You say that I'll come back to ya But this time it's not happening yeah.
Na na na na na You think you got me Na na na na na But I've broken free Na na na na na You know you crossed the line Na na na na no Baby not this time
For me this may be the best song you've created yet... I can hear all sorts of improvements in your work... Yeah... I really enjoyed listening to this one!
I'm OK with vocal effects - some artefacts from autotuning etc?. You'll do that less as you improve with that aspect. The backing sounds like you put a blanket over the rhythm section. The songs fine.

Thanks for all of the feedback guys and for taking the time to listen to it.
Rayc - it was mainly the intentional artifacts (the last word of each verse and chorus) which were meant to have the "autotune-style" sound. As well as the delay and distortion I put on the same words. I liked it but I wasn't 100% sure if it was a bit much. The consensus seems to be that the effects were OK though, which I'm glad about!
I'm slowly getting the hang of the pitch correction stuff. I hope I can get to a point where I'd feel comfortable using it in a song in which I would want it to sound like I hadn't used any correction at all. Fingers crossed all of the practice will pay off!
Nicely done - I personally thought the vocal effects were suiting. Definitely gave it a standout effect. Made it just that little bit more attention grabbing, personally. That aside, I thought it was nicely catchy and easy to follow.
Richard, Big improvement here! To my ears, vocals work fine with FX used. I agree with Ray on a "blanket" over drum section. I think if you separate drum track and treat it separately (more dry and louder?) before going into Master, it might help bring clarity.
Thanks for taking the time to listen and give feedback.
Yeah, that's a good idea with the drums, I think I may have added too much reverb across the instruments in general but the I think it really does tell on the drums. Thanks for that suggestion.
Well done Richard, I admired the overall vibe on this. The different elements really glue well together and a solid key signature choice too. Great work on the vocals. Well done!

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
