Hello, forum friends After a short charging period, I would like to resume posting my music to the forum again. This song is re-arranged for our latest recording session in this summer. I wrote it with Motown style. I would like to introduce you two versions of the same score, which are the BIAB MIDI version and the live band version. Any comments encouraged. Always welcome. Best regards. Shigeki Adachi Title: 恋のレッスン (Translation: Love Lesson) Vocal: Natsuki, our local female jazz vocalist (This vocal track was recorded about 15 years ago. Fotunately the individual vocal track was found in the music folder of my old computer.) Link of Live Band Version by Yamaha Teachers: https://soundcloud.com/animarorecords/love-lesson-live-band-versionThese live band tracks were just recorded in this August listening to the above vocal track. Link of BIAB MIDI Version: https://soundcloud.com/animarorecords/lovelessonStyle is MOTOWN_1.STY Style MIDI Instruments are : Fretless Bass (36), Electric Muted Guitar (29), Electric Strat Guitar (28), MIDI Drums. Some other MIDI instruments played with Kontakt were added. These tracks were recorded about 15 years ago together with the above vocal track. Summary of lyrics: While you behave awkwardly You are ruining the mood of love I want to teach you That there are rules in love You are insensitive Because you don't understand the delicate feelings I'm not refusing you But I'm just only teasing you Don't miss the chance of love Also girls are waiting Don't hesitate, I love you Now is the time you can kiss me. When we are hugging exactly Our fast heartbeats are transmitted with each other So I understand that you are excited more than me Trying to tempt you I must be a little bad girl If you can't handle me any more Please look for another girl I'll teach you everything tonight The sweetness of kisses and the secret of love You will be good at loving with my lessons Because you are an excellent student more than I expected Don't miss the chance of love Also girls are waiting Please believe me, I love you Please hold me tight while kissing me

Shigeki, Welcome back! Your band sounds tight and well rehearsed. Listening to Natsuki is alwaysa treat- she communicates so much energy. Tough to pick between the versions-I think the vocal processing is a bit different and clearer on the Midi recording, but I like the wamth of the band sound too. I hope you`ll stick around - I really enjoy your music!

Shigeki Adachi,
Welcome back.
Wonderful energy in both versions. Natsuki's vocal is wonderful.
I like the punchy clarity of the bass in the MIDI version. And the brightness of the vocal. The horns in the live version sound good.
I enjoyed listening to both.

Nice! I liked the first (especially the horns), but loved the brightness and energy of the second.
The vocal is more up-front in the MIDI version, but the MIDI sax is up-front and obviously MIDI.
The introduction on live version intro seems to have a bit less punch. On the MIDI version, the sax comes in right on the beat. In the live version, there seems to be a bit of slapback delay in addition to the reverb on the horns that pulls a bit of the punch.
The live version also has a doubled vocal and strings, which gives it a warmer feel.
Both versions are quite nice. Excellent work!

What a tune! The live version took a slight edge for me, personally - but both are lovely. It's a huge tune, and I found it catchy and attention grabbing. Some fantastic progressions and the arrangement is top tier. You should be proud of this one - thanks for sharing

I LOVE the "live" version. The BIAB midi is fine BUT... the 1st version kicks along a little more.

Nice to hear from you again and with such a nice motown pop song, catchy, uplifting and sweetly romantic. Enjoyable chord progression. Great production in both versions. The vocals are nice and bright especially in the BIAB version.

Hey welcome back.
There is a lot to like with each version.
IF we had to pick we'd go with the live version.
But both are excellent and what a vocal!!

Absolutely fantastic melody and so very well moved along with a superbly strong chord progression. Great talent. Your singer delivers the emotion of the lyric very well. As I hear/read it, it is sweetly funny in parts, and builds heat as it goes.
The live version overall edges forward to me. It's a wonderful use of BIAB to produce lines that can be copied and embellished. I like this a lot.

Hi Shigeki Adachi, What a terrific piece of music and stunning arrangement! It's "thumbs up" from me. I listened to both versions and each one has worthy strengths. As floyd said, the bass in the MIDI version is excellent and the 'live' feel in the Yamaha Teachers version is mesmerising. Have you thought about doing a hybrid version that combines elements from both? As I listened to these productions, one thing that I know for sure... You are a brilliant arranger! I cannot even begin to imagine how you orchestrate these wonderful creations. They are superb! All the best, Noel

Very nice! Just a suggestion but you might want to upgrade your virtual synth/sax. I suggest the SWAM line. Great energy.

Hello, Shigeki ... I listened to both productions of Love Lesson, and to be wholly truthful, Ms. Natsuki’s singing is so exciting, so thrilling as she reaches for, and grabs firmly onto each rung of the ladder of emotion she is climbing, that the music simply receded into the background, by no means entirely, of course, but enough to make the necessary room for the space that her voice couldn’t help but fill up. She is a powerful singer, the kind that makes me cheer her on as she performs. The Motown style is irresistible. The genre will never die. Your song captured all of its hand-clapping, toe-tapping musical power that was ‘kicked up a notch’ by the key modulations. It made the MIDI sound good and the live band sound better and brighter. The lyrics displayed on the song’s posting page are as sensual as bodies touching. - bluage -
"Music is what feelings sound like."-- borrowed from a Cakewalk Music Creator forum member, "Mamabear".

Good song... To me it has a Neil Sedaka feel to it... So you're in great songwriter territory... Between the 2... The live band version was pretty slick... But I must admit the MIDI version sounded better to my ears.

Hello, Jim
Thank you very much for taking the time to listen and comment. And many thanks for listening to the both version. I am really glad you like this tune. Neil Sedaka is one of my most favorite songwriters in American Oldies. I used to listen to his songs when I was a kid. So I may have been influenced by him without knowing it. I am very encouraged by your kind words.

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!
For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.
Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!
Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
