Wow! It turned to CAT 5 today and they said it was the worst on record for the Bahamas.

They put us under a Hurricane Warning on the coast of Florida. I hope we don't get the full force of it.

185mph in the Bahamas, that's devastating. I hope the damage and loss of life is minimal or better yet, zero.

Thanks, all prep is done except for the last 5 minutes or so, and that can be done when the winds reach gale force. (Blocking the screen door, closing the doors that have shutters over the glass, and so on).

If the winds get to hurricane force, they will turn the power off at the nuke plant for safety's sake.

If the phones and cable go out, I won't have Internet, so if you have a Norton Music problem, hang in there until I get back on-line.

This old house has seen a number of hurricanes, and the likelihood of it still standing after this one are good, but one never knows for sure.

Getting ready to hunker down.

A Category 5 hurricane moving at ONE MILE PER HOUR is mind-boggling crazy.

We need that thing to "get moving" so that the systems that are helping move it East remain in place long enough to do that. Otherwise, we could see it move back to the West (the way Irma did)....

Was at the Fort Lauderdale beaches yesterday. Nice place to be, crowds were gone and restaurants had great sales on food and drink - reduced due to "hurricane prices". Only problem was the $20 to park for 0-4 hrs. Hard for a Chicago business man to wonder around in the heat and sun for even a small bit of that time.

Otherwise, this has been the slowest storm I have ever seen. Moving at 1 mile per hour and hundreds of miles away. The wait has been painful. But I am respectful of mother nature and keep my complaints to myself. Hotel tells me two years ago Irma hit them and they lost power for three days - yieps!

Currently a little bit of rain and a nice breeze coming in.

I feel for the Bahamians. It's been there close to 24 hours. I understand Great Abaco has over 65% of the homes destroyed. The Grand Bahama airport is 5 feet underwater.

The Bahama Islands are not very tall, so a surge can go right across some of them and parts of others. The water is worse than the wind, and the wind is bad.

We're in feeder bands, probably gale force and under a hurricane warning.

This storm needs to move north, then northeast in a hurry.

Hope I am not premature in my estimates, but Fort Lauderdale got nothing other than a bit of rain this afternoon and a pleasant breeze.

We've had tropical force winds here in Ft. Pierce and frequent periods of driving rain.

We're about even with the storm latitude wise and its strong winds have been blowing from the north for days now.

When I get tired lf being in a house with all the windows shuttered, I think about those poor folks in the Bahamas and know how lucky I really am.

I'm in the clear. I opened the storm awnings this morning to let light into the house, and started cleaning up the yard. Palm fronds, minor tree limbs and so on. More rain put a temporary halt to that PITA. But it's rain not a wall of water.

We have a couple of leaning trees, but not enough lean to worry me, we never lost power, although it blinked a few times, and our neighbors are OK too.

The local boaters will probably bring food and supplies over to the Bahamas this weekend when the seas settle down. I'll contribute to one of the boat loads, and I'll donate blood because that's always needed.

Good luck to the folks still in it's path.

Great news that you made it through OK. Once I saw it started heading North I had a feeling you would be good.

Yah, when I was talking to one of my friends who lives in Tampa which is on the opposite coast she kind of laughed (in a good-hearted kinda way) about my being worried about my friends in Orlando. A lot of the news places were showing Orlando as a spot that the storm would hit, but she said that Orlando is so far inland that there's no way the hurricane would reach Orlando. She pretty much said at worst it'd be really strong winds and some rain and that anyone saying that it could reach Orlando was pretty much just fear mongering.

That said, I keep forgetting how small Florida really is in comparison to our provinces. I keep having to remind myself that our provinces tend to be much, much larger than the individual states are.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
