The plugin is identical to the Win version though I was getting a lot faster generate times in the Mac plugin on the same hardware (but don't tell the Win users that) it is also ahead in development (for a change) it's using the 64bit app in the background whereas the Win is still using the 32bit app.
Hopefully the MacBB 2020 will be released a bit earlier next time round that all the hard yards are done to get to 64bit.
It has come a long way from the original Win Beta that took minutes to generate a song now I get it in 11 secs along with synced playback.

Pipeline,
Thanks. Your suggestions and advice along the way are a big reason for many of these improvements. Keep them coming!

Hi,

Just to echo the comments from Pipeline, as a long time Mac user its great to upgrade to the 64bit version - no mean feet I'm sure by the developers, but hopefully a great base for future dev.

The big feature for upgrading for me (apart from the great new real tracks), was being able to have BAIB as a VST in my DAW - it works in both Cubase & Logic for me. The sync to host feature Pipeline mentioned on another thread ala EZ drummer for the VST version would be awesome for music production workflow within the DAW, as would provide an opportunity to experiment, jam with new ideas, arrangements before committing to dragging into the project (Ableton Link for the standalone version would also be neat for virtual jam sessions).

That and the ability to have the Chord Output of BIAB to the DAW would take the usability, creativity to a whole new level - it would the virtual equivalent of having session musicians inside your virtual studio (DAW).

Here's hoping - keep up the great work Peter & team.

Colin

Yes it needs to be a bit more user friendly and EZ to use, at the moment you need to double click the drag button on the track to enable sync to host but select the track name to preview the track with the Play button.

You can have Ctrl/Cmd click to select the track/s or to make it simpler just left click, Alt/Opt click to deselect all rather than normal click and losing all the selected tracks (selected tracks stand out).
If you enable Sync to Host it will play back the selected tracks in sync with the DAW.
If you hit Play in the Plugin it will play just the selected tracks.

And again the generated local constant tempo tracks need to be able to play back in sync with the DAW Tempo map when sync previewing so it would work out the time pos by the number of bars/beats and tempo of the local file then on seek it will go to that bar in the file and play @ current tempo, so no matter where the DAW starts play the same bar @ x time will be played in the local file.
If the ACID was enabled then the file will fit the DAW tempo map automatically when dragged in else you set the tempo of the track in the DAW and it will fit the tempo map.
If you have Reaper, one of the DAW's that don't fit Acidized files to the tempo map you can use this method Video: Fit Biab Plugin Tracks to Reaper Tempo Map this is not ideal using stretch markers so eventually the plugin will need a decimal point tempo map like RealBand so the files are rendered to the DAW's tempo map, as not all DAW's will fit Acidized files to the tempo map.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
