Here's my interpretation of the classic country song by George Jones, written by George Jones & Lawton Williams.

I'm playing the acoustic and electric guitars on this one, and it's my vocals.
I've added a lot of reverb to the electric guitar and vocals to try and capture a retro-type sound.

I also used Drums, Bass (518) and Pedal Steel (RT2666) Realtracks.
The first two are from the Portage.STY, and the Pedal Steel is from the ICYWIND.STY.

Please feel free to comment and let me know what you think.

The title of the song was really interesting and pulled me in, and the song has a really lovely sound to it. Thanks for sharing!

Really cool Andy!! I love the retro feel of the mix, and the way the music has that drone effect of the tonic chord. Vocal is really cool! Reminds me of the vibe from old Stones or Moody Blues.....and that's a compliment in my book! Enjoyed a lot!! Take care. Greg

My favourite version of this is by Elvis Costello & the attractions - from the album Almost Blue. It was so good Nashville was in uproar about his audacity.
This is a nice reading of the song. I'd have liked a little more level in the steel guitar but that's minor stuff.
As this is a cover does it fit into the terms & conditions of the forum? I don't want you to get into trouble - may be useful to read them.

Thank you rayc.
I hadn't heard the Elvis Costello version before, so I listened to it on YouTube. I quite like what he has done with it, and I like it even more that he rattled a few cages by covering the song in his own style. This is something that should be applauded in my view.
Personally, I prefer the breezy and bluesier version by Susan Tedeschi & John Prine from Prine's 'For Better, Or Worse' 2016 album, although I opted for a slower tempo on my own version.

I took your advice and read the forum's terms and conditions and can't see any specific mention of covers not being allowed, although it is slightly unclear when it states that only links to your original songs are allowed. I took this to mean that it's okay to link to my own original version of the song, but obviously not to THE original by George Jones, or any other version.
Of course I fully respect the forum rules and I will happily delete this post if I'm wrong, but I notice that a PG Staff member (ie. Ember) has viewed it and posted a positive comment, so I would think that everything must be in order.
However, just to err on the side of caution, I've removed the lyric text from my post.

The title got me too. I thought maybe a blues tune. But this was a very nice surprise. Very nice back track and vocal

Wow - you did a tremendous job on this. It flows tremendously well, and your vocals soar on this. Nicely catchy, and very sincere and poetic. It makes for a very captivating listen.

Thanks for sharing smile

Check out the rules at the top of the "User Showcase" forum, not the general "Forum Rules" links:

Nice rendition of the song! smile

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
